Modifying Inkscape source code in order to modify context menu

Hello, I am modifying Inkscape source code, in order to add a new option in context menu, but I have a problem because there are many classes and it's difficult to understand the whole functionality from all of them.... To the point: I've developed several extensions in python (.inx and .py files) to draw custom elements. But I would like to add the functionality to modify these elements in a easy way. Then whenever someone selects one of them and clicks the right button, shows up the contex menu with an option to modify the properties of the curernt element. So I don't know wheter there is any function to show the same dialog of the extensions with the elements properties I have selected or I must code new dialogs in c++ through gtk. Hand_Curson in subelements

Hello Inkscape users, I am brand new in this forum, actually this is my first post. I dont know if this is the right place to ask my doubt. Well, I am developping a small app using Java & Inkscape. I am loading SVG documents made through Inkscape tool right on a JSVGCanvas. Roughly speaking, the main issue is that i would like to change the mouse cursor to the hand_cursor one, every time someone passes through a subelement defined within the SVG. To the point, is there any special attribute where to define the type of cursor you want within the SVG document. effects in Ubuntu

Hello, I have a problem with extensions in Ubuntu. I am compiling the source in ubuntu because I would like to do a modification. The problem is that I add my files .inx and .py in the directory /inkscape-0.45.1/share/extensions/ but when I open inkscape I can't see them. It works fine in windows, I don't know if I must do something else in order to it works out in Ubuntu. Thanks for your help. SVG and the Web

Hi, I just finished my first web design <http://home.arcor.de/ccyrny/> in Inkscape that incorporates SVG. The only problem: IE 6 doesn't support it, and I'm not sure about IE 7 (I am using Linux/Firefox). My question: Does it make sense to keep the SVG (since the web site is for clients)? I really love the look, but I'm especially very disappointed with IE (basically the old story). I would be glad if someone could give me some feedback on how my page looks (so far, only the entrance page to my site) in their browser. I would also appreciate feedback/experience by other members on the list on the use of SVG for web sites. How to integrate Inkscape dialogs into an only window?

Greetings I'm new to using Inkscape. I've noticed that dialogs and other floating stuff (e.g. the layer dialog) are open in different windows, so it gets uncomfortable switching from window to window. Maybe I've not made proper configuration. How can I get dialogs to be integrated with the main window. Help would be appreciated. How do I run a script?

can't install inkscape .46 on ubuntu

Missing module in Pattern along Path

TIA, Jim The way I create gradients so that the gimp can use them involves these steps (not really all that necessary though you could just put the svg file in the gimp user gradient directory): 1. Open or create inkscape document with the object that has the gradient you want or made. 1a. If you open document with object that has gradient you want then follow step 2 if you just created the object with gradient then just delete object and save as plain svg. 2. Copy object with gradient into a new document and delete the object save as plain svg. 3. Open svg document with text editor and delete everything betwen </def></svg> tags 4. Save as whateveryounamedit.svg 5. Place in personal gimp gradient folder 6. Open gimp and you will see in the gradients a gradient with an id from the document, duplicate and rename the gradient and it will be a .ggr which you can just drop into any document or just resuse in the gimp. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Never miss a thing. I have some PNG files that I want to convert into gradients for gimp. I've read that you can export SVG files from inkscape and gimp will read them. The gradients are way too complicated to use gimp's gradient editor and are color from end to end. When I try to create a gradient from a PNG file in inkscape and export to SVG, gimp picks up two black fading to transparent gradients. I think I've read all the documentation and have googled this to death over the past couple days. Can this be done, and if so, can someone please point me toward instructions on how to do it. Bug: Inkscape or GIMP?

I followed the tutorial http://www.webschuur.com/publications/blogs/2007-01-09-fancy_rays_in_inksca… here to make a nifty radial pattern in Inkscape but when it's opened in the GIMP, some of the stripes appear dark red instead of with their gradient. http://www.petaimg.com/uploads/1201457817.svg - This is a link to the SVG (you can open it in Inkscape or GIMP to see what I mean} http://www.petaimg.com/uploads/1201402880.jpg- This is a link to a screenshot of the GIMP with my file open Is this a GIMP or Inkscape bug? The image displays correctly when opened in Firefox AND, interestingly, when I rotate the radial spokes around in Inkscape, save and open in GIMP, the dark part has moved as well. inkscape gallery update

I wanted to keep you update about the inkscape gallery project. Don'know why but it seems harder than we expected to find people to debug and populate the web-site, i'm doing this here in the international community and in the italian one too. We need more people to stress the web-site to be sure about it, and we need images to make it beautiful when it will be online at http://www.inkscapegallery.net. And i'd like the international community to partecipate cause i had to write so many words in english and i'm fearing that i did terrible mistakes cause i'm from italy and..you know...we're not so smart in multilanguage. I tried to handle this heavy task, i hope you will not be disgusted by my tv-serial based english :-[ I added new features to inkscape gallery, like an advanced search to search for licenses or users, now i'm working on the rss feeds and i provided personal users feed at the moment. We have another big project about inkscape gallery and i will soon entroduce to you. Please, this is a great chance for inkscape to be well known and considered as the great vector graphic software it really is, we don't want to miss this. Disable text-to-path for pdf export. (Inkscape 0.45.1)

Hello, I'm using Inkscape 0.45.1 on windows. How can I disable conversion of text to path when exporting to pdf? I need to do this to keep the resultant pdf file size small. We have a homogeneous user base so the font availability problem does not exist. Thanks in advance. regards, ani

Converting SVG to PDF: No export filename given and no filename hint

I'm trying to convert svg to pdf. "inkscape -A stack.pdf stack.svg" works, but the resulting image has a lot of empty space. I tried adding -D but that gives me "WARNING **: No export filename given and no filename hint. Nothing exported." Any help? FWIW I was able to use -D successfully in the past when converting svg to png files.... Thanks, Yang

svg in inkscape gallery and other stuffs

Hello everybody, you may think i've paid the "ugly lord"; this is exactly what makes people speak about you and what makes you proud of what you have done, but i didn't, he's genuine :-D It was funny to read but i worked hard this night and i would like to report what i've done "officially": Many asked for svgs in inkscape gallery and they were right, we needed and it was a missing feature. I'm sorry if i didn't realize quickly how reasonable and useful it was :-[ but: we have svg in inkscape gallery now, it's easy to use cause you only have to browse and find the file, then unpload it and you will see it as a link that let you left-click on it if you want to see it or right-click if you want to download. I think this is a good way to do this, isn't? For those who already posted images in inkscape gallery you simply have to edit your post and you'll find the svg_source fieldset with the browse button. After you uploaded click on the submit button and you've done. I made some css fixes, the "submitted" block in comments, for example, that nicu was missing, but it was just clearing (for the web developers) and it was at the bottom of the page. Many others little changes in comments to make them layout consistent, I followed nicu's suggestion again about the cc attributes explanation in the "content creation" skin, that i moved in the right column (i still have to theme it) to decrease the scrolling when submitting a drawing. For any better solution i will take a look, but this is quite good, i hope. Just a couple of words about general beliefs about inkscape gallery; i didn't expect everyone to love it, i liked to do something new and peppery (is this word tolerable?) and i think it is normal to have various reactions, not necessarily eager. This is about the layout i've designed, but i think inkscape gallery to be enough powerful as a software to be liked for the things it does and the features it provides. I just wanted to have feedback about the changes i've made to the text colors, i told you in a previous mail, i tried to find balance between readability, shine, keeping the image in a privileged status. Gradients Gimp and Inkscape

I'm trying to create SVG gradient files in inkscape that gimp can read. I'm importing a PNG file and then hitting "G" for the gradient select. Then I export to a SVG file. When gimp picks up this file, it has lost all it's color and looks like a black to transparent gradient. I've been through the doc's and have googled this for hours now. I'm new to inkscape, so I'm probably missing something obvious. Does anyone have any clues they can share? System: Suse Linux 10.2/32 Gimp 2.4 (With SVG enabled) Inkscape 0.45 TIA, Jim

Circles separating from gradient

I don't think my last message got posted b/c I wasn't signed up to the group yet so here it is again. In this file, why doesn't the gradient I put on the circle stay with the circle? If I move the circle, it moves, but the gradient stays pegged to the center of the page.
