I have icc profiles avialable in Scribus but not in inkscape 48.2. Where does inkscape look? Slackware Linux. John Culleton

CommandLine: passing parameters to verbs

Hello, Is there a way to pass parameters to verbs, when using the inkscape commandline? I can't seem to find anything, so my guess is no - but in any case it would be needed for --verb=DialogAlignDistribute Cheers, Joscha

Failed to convert a pdf file to an eps file via inkscape.

Hi all, I ran the Inkscape, opened the pdf file and then "save a copy" in the eps format. As shown in the attached files, the coordinate information is missed in the converted eps file. The information about the my computer and Inkscape is listed as follows. OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS amd64 Inkscape : 0.48.3.1 r9886 (Installed from the Canonical source) While I tried on another machine with Inkscape 0.48.2 r9819, the conversion is perfectly done as expected. So have I missed something to be installed? Or is there a bug for the newer version of Inkscape? Suggestions are welcome! Regards, Hedong May 23,2012

editing .svg files

I have some .svg files that I create with the tools at blockdiag.com (it does a good job of turning progromatic data into a valid graphic), but there are a lot of times when I would like to grab a chunk of the resulting digram and move it around. The problem I have had trying to use Inkscape to do this is that I can select and grab a block, but the lines stay put. I really want to grab the objects and the endpoints of the lines that are within the selection window and move the endpoints along with the objects. Is there an easy way to do this that I have been overlooking? David Lang

missing element (graticules) after ps/eps/pdf import into inkscape

Good day everyone, I'm trying to import a GMT generated map (ps file) into inkscape (so I can add an extra layer and lots of text) but the graticules disappear. The map is attached. It was generated with this command (pscoast -R-180/180/-90/-60 -Js0/-90/1:40000000 -B30g30/g10 -Dc -G200 -P -V > map1.ps). Once imported into inkscape the graticules disappear. They are, however, still visible in the import window. Mysterious disappearance of Bezier- Handles

Hi! While I click and drag with the bezier pen tool, I get those nice bezier handles so can shape bezier curves accurately. The moment I close a path, and then select the node-editing tool, i can click on nodes, but i don't get those bezier-rubberbands or handles, so can shape the curves further. When I convert an object to path, and attempt to re-shape a segment or a curve, I still don't get those bezier-handles anymore. Might I have accidentally switched off their view? Have tried everywhere, can't seem to find the option. How do I get those back please? I could happily edit curves in this version ever since it was released, but it just stopped one fine day a few months ago. FYI, I'm using 0.46-devel on my production-stable ubuntu 9.04 on a macbookpro. Can't change this in a hurry either. Regards niyam

Shrinking the results of JPG to SVG conversion

Hi all, I have a number of *.jpg files that I need to convert to svg. I am using inkscape for the conversion. The problem is that the resulting svg is almost 5 times the size of the jpeg file. I have tried saving the file in compressed plain svg but with no success. The file is still very large. Is there anything I can do to shrink the file? I have run an open source cleanup tool called cleanSVG downloadable from codeplex but that has not helped. I am open to using other JPG to SVG converters if inkscape is not the right tool for this exercise. Natively creating SVG is not an option at this point. Pranav
