inkscape for rapid "paper-based" prototying

Hi list I use inkscape for "paper-based" prototyping. I use layers for each screen and print them to test the prototype with users. Now I thougth instead of printing I could use inkscape directly. I noticed theres a property dialog for each object. So the question is if it is possible to use the "onclick" action to bring a defined layer to the front. Example: the layer "Main-Menu" is the top layer. On this layer is a button- object "Configuration". If I click on this button, the Configuration layer becomes the top layer. This way I can do exactly the same as I would do printing all layers. Is something like this possible? If someone know how to realize this, I would be very happy to get hint's code-example or whatever it takes. thanks for any hints ~nos

Grouping text and shadow loses blur

I am trying to take a piece of text, make a white copy to make a shadow which I have slightly blurred with the Object Fill and Stroke tool, but when I select one, hold down the shift key to have both selected, then Group them, the white shadow loses it blur. Input Devices Settings in current bzr version not stored permanently

The input devices settings (for extended input, e.g. tablet) have changed some time ago to a different format. Now, I can set the stylus device to Screen to have it pressure sensitive as expected, and it is also stored as this in the preferences.xml, but on reload if forgets this setting. My stylus device is called Stylus0, the eraser Eraser0. Setting the eraser to screen mode, in the preferences.xml I see something like <group keys=";;;;;... axes="x;y;pressure;xtilt;ytilt;wheel" mode="screen" id="E:Eraser0" /> but no such entry for stylus or Stylus0 exists and is created... -- Cheers, Alex

Printing problem with imported PDF and added bitmap

People, I am using: inkscape-0.47-2.fc12.x86_64 I: - opened a PDF form - added some text but also my signature - saved the changed form as SVG and exported as a new PDF - sent the PDF to the responsible person (a Windows user) but although she can see the signature on the screen, it doesn't print (I presume she is using an Adobe viewer). I think she was able to get around it by doing a print screen and saving to a doc file? This could be a problem if it happens all the time . . Ideas? Manao ahoana, Hello, Bonjour, I needed to draw a diagram of servers and therefore needed many arrows. I found how to have arrows with: - draw a line - right click on it - Fill & Stroke - Stoke Style - Star/Mid/End Markers But the "Marker" is always black. I want it the color of the line I draw. Inkscape symbol templates (newbie question)

I am relatively new to Inkscape, and am looking to use it for general vector drawings, but in particular drawing diagrams (single line electrical diagrams). As such, is there anything similar (sorry for the comparison) to Visio's symbol templates, where one can store recurring symbols and simply insert them (and create custom symbols to add as the need arises)? Any ideas on how best to manage this in Inkscape (or indeed any other recommendations?) would be greatly appreciated; likewise if there are any single-line symbols available? Thanks, Mattias

How to use Type 1 fonts in Inkscape?

Hello, I am using Inkscape-0.47 on Zenwalk Snapshot which is a derivative of Slackware. I have installed Ghostscript Standard Type 1 fonts installed in /usr/share/fonts/Type1 directory. But these fonts are not visible in Inkscape. How to make them available in Inkscape? Thanks for your help. Anand
