Plácido Sousa sent an improved version of the current default icon set to the user list. It's a clear improvement over the current, and in my opinion, it should be made the default set since there is no consensus about the Tangoified theme and the default has some evident problems. The proposed set from Sousa is a polished version of the same icons we have now, so the familiarity won't be a problem and the people -like me- who think the current set needs desperately some love will be more comfortable with the new look. What do you think?

Great work Plácido! I think you really worked around the most evident issues of the theme and achieved a very coherent style. Even though I still prefer the Tangoified set, I think your theme is a clear improvement and it should replace the default set asap. I'd like to know what the rest think. In my opinion your set should be the default if there is no consensus about the Tango set. Gez

Hi all, I've been improving (I think!) the inkscape iconset (work in progress). I've resized and simplified some of the icons to make them look better in my Linux distro (Ubuntu 8.10 - haven't tried others). If the feedback is positive I'll try them in Microsoft Windows to see what I can do! (Sorry! why doesn't this work?

I am trying to make a simple wedge shape that is 1/6 of a hexagon. So I used the polygon tool to make a hexagon. I convert it to a path. I duplicated it, shrunk it down some and used a boolean operation to cut a smaller hex shaped hole in the exact center of the larger hexagon. Then I used the node tool to select the extraneous nodes and delete them. Now I have two lines, both part of the same path, but not connected. When I select two end points on the lines and try to join them with a new segment, I get an error saying I haven't selected two nodes!!! So just for the heck of it, I used the bezier tool to make two separate lines, combined them to a single path and then tried to connect two end nodes with a new segment. Worked just fine. I could try to do the shape I am after this way, but getting everything positioned right might be something of a pain. I am just wondering why the first technique doesn't work. Seems like it should...

Hi, In some programs I remember to see a "color palete" (white with a red cross) to remove the color of object Fill or Stroke. installing inkscape on a gentoo webserver... help !

Hi everybody, I'm a french user, writing in english like i can, sorry by advance :) I'm trying since many days to install inkscape on my gentoo webserver, but i was not sure it was possible. Today i found this doc : http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/CompilingGentoo describing how to install inkscape-0.44 on gentoo like i want, and i try, but result is : !!! Couldn't download 'baselayout-1.12.10.tar.bz2'. Abor * Fetch failed for 'sys-apps/baselayout-1.12.10-r5' * Messages for package sys-apps/baselayout-1.12.10-r5: * Fetch failed for 'sys-apps/baselayout-1.12.10-r5' I had this problem 3 days ago, but after many manipulations and the emergements of depedencies, and the ./configure installation of 0.46 version via a tar.gz file, this had finished to happen. My problem of yesterday, about what i have post in the inkscape forum, was : """ I am not sure but it seems that inkscape can be installed on a remote web server, mine is a gentoo linux kernel 2.6.27.10-grs (OVH release 2). Hi all, Let's say I use the "Ctrl+Shift+F" shortcut to show the Fill and Stroke Dialog.
