Effect xml: xml in string

I have a standalone python program that generates svg layouts for 'n-up' printing, like four postcards arranged on a page. Or 30 address labels, or whatever. Trying to package it as an Inkscape effect, I run into something like this: svg_xml_string = foo() reader = Sax2.Reader() content = reader.fromString(svg_xml_string) self.document.documentElement.appendChild(content.documentElement) dies with: xml.dom.WrongDocumentErr: Node is from a different document Well duh. :-) So how can I move svg_xml_string into the Inkscape document tree? I've RTFM'ed on PyXML, but didn't find it. Thanks, Terry

multiple png export

Hi. I use inkscape to draw icons to web pages. I use the export-dialog to create the final png files. I would like to export multi area using only ones the export-dialog, It is enough to add two new parameters to sp_export_png_file: repeat_x, repeat_y. Then in export.cpp make this loop (pseudo-code): for( i=0; i< repeat_x; i++) { for( j=0; j< repeat_y; j++) { if (!sp_export_png_file (sp_desktop_document (SP_ACTIVE_DESKTOP), filename + "_x" + i + "_y" +j, x0+i*width, y0+j*height, x1+i*width, y1+j*height, width, height, xdpi, ydpi, nv->pagecolor, sp_export_progress_callback, base)) } } Another possibility is to add access to sp_export_png_file from the extension API. Cairoification clarification

Is this page out of date? http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Cairoification Latest I heard on IRC was that Inkscape *is* using Cairo and in the end it's actually *faster* overall than libart. --bb

Again: Text tool in Inkscape 0.45 autopackage

Hi all, since I didn't get any response to my first query, I have to post this again, since the problem is still there: After installing Inkscape 0.45 from the autopackage, Inkscape freezes when I try to invoke the text tool (both by means of the shortcut and the button). Did anyone else experience this, and is there a fix of some kind for this problem? library of Inkscape / SVG "shapes" or "components"

I'm using Inkscape for diagrams of computer networks, i.e. the sort of thing that Visio is good for. Is there a gallery or library of "shapes" or "components" anywhere? (Hoped to find something on www.openclipart.org but that site is still down.) Thanks, Niall

Draw a web site using only Inkscape

Hello, everyone! I'm new to the list, and would like to thank the Inkscape developers for making great free (as in freedom) software and for promoting an important open standard, SVG, as the drawing format. Konqueror 3.5.x ( and Apple's Safari?) and Mozilla Firefox 2.x are SVG enabled, which means children can now draw their web site using only Inkscape and put the linked SVG files directly on the web. This is very easy, a lot of fun, and I find the results are colourful and vivid. I've made a simple example - would you like to see? non standard Inkscape SVG output

I have just started using Scribus for page layout and have had an issue with the import of an SGV created in Inkscape. The image has two lines of text running along two separate curves. When I import the SVG into Scribus I get a message that tells the "SVG file contains unsupported features" and the resulting import has broken the text away from the paths. Are there text/path features in Inkscape which are non-standard or is this a Scribus problem? Interestingly enough an import of the same image when saved as an EPS imports fine. Any ideas? Andy

Help needed on OS X

Hello all, To solve a bug I need a little help from the community. I would need the output of this command: ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libXine* Just copy paste the line above in a Terminal and then copy paste the output back in an email. I would need this information from users with 4 different setups: - 10.3.* (Panther) with X11 installed (X11User package) - 10.3.* (Panther) with X11 and X11-SDK installed (X11-SDK is available in the developer tools, when you install XCode and such) - 10.4.* (Tiger) with X11 installed (X11User package) - 10.4.* (Tiger) with X11 and X11-SDK installed (X11-SDK is available in the developer tools, when you install XCode and such) Thank you in advance for your help.
