Hi, I'm working with Inkscape to make some illustrations and noticed some little problem. When I import a png file it losses detail and looks blurred, I attach and image so you see what I'm talking about. Inkscape is a great program and I like it more every time I use it. That's why I want to learn to produce great work with it. Please if anyone knows what can I do to avoid this inconvenience let me know. Tnx. Facundo -- =,=

Hi Import of text in SVG in Scribus is really an issue unless converted to path. If it needs to be edited, you should use Scribus's features directly - if not convert to shape. Cedric Creating "non-flowed" text that has been "Put on Path" still > detaches itself from the path when imported into Scribus. Converting the > text to "regular (non flowed) text" by using the "Convert to text" > command also does not fix the problem - the text is still detached on > import.

How can I crop an SVG file with Inkscape? As in, I have an SVG file, and I want a smaller SVG file that contains a rectangular portion of it. Seems pretty basic, right? What's the simplest way to do it? Keenan Pepper

offtopic: printing a high image

Hi! I know it is a bit offtopic, but maybe somebody can help me out there. I want to print an inkscape tutorial (hence the inkscape mailing list;), but none of the programs is capable to do it. Here is the original image: http://ic3.deviantart.com/fs13/f/2007/113/7/3/a_Quick_Guide_to_Inkscape_by_… I tried firefox, but prints only the first page, so the image is cutted at the top. And after that: gimp (with gimp-print plugin), gthumb, inkscape, evince. None of them was I successful. Any ideas?

Is this the same Steve Schrenk of baseball fame?? How did he come upon the nom de plume of Tavmjong Bah?? I've Googled and Wikipedia'd for all I'm worth and can't find anything about this apparently very creative individual.? Amongst other things, he's also crafted some Arev fonts, whatever they are. Layers Dialog Mockup.

The other day, i decided to lock an object using the "lock" checkbox in the properties dialog box, and when i wanted to edit this object again, the only way i could find to unlock it was to edit the XML using the XML editor. This got me thinking, how could an easier way be implented? microUgly and i were throwing around some ideas at http://inkscapeforum.com/ and we thought, why not be able to change these properties of objects in the layers dialog box? anyhoo, the moral to my rambilings is that i did a simple mockup of how this may work: please tell me what you think... mockup: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/images/Layersmockup.png cheers, ryanlerch
