Bulia, It just occurred to me that I've mixed up some terminology. When I've said "filter", I really meant "effect". Can an effect be created that would randomize rotation, size or transparency of selected objects based on the pixel color of a bitmap below each object's origin? - Tony

V0.45, exporting PDF => result without images

Hi, seems like the never ending story. After spending about a day for the drawing, I finally found out, that I can't get it to the print service just like that, because all images are not included within the created pdf. I looked up the mailing lists, googled like hell, read wikis, tried the hand made "effects-extensions" via ghostscript, used the command line option "--export-pdf". Same result: no images in the pdf. Great program, but if I only can see the result on the screen, the whole thing is questionable. However, maybe I've just missed *the* hint, that will do the job. So, the way for best results would be File => Save As... => PDF? I just need any way, to get that thing out as it looks on the screen! Any help appreciated. Cheers, Holger

Selector's scale handle modifiers

Currently, when you scale an object by its scale handles in Selector, you can use the following modifiers: Ctrl+mouse drag scale preserving aspect ratio Shift+mouse drag symmetric transformation (around center) Alt+mouse drag slow movement The "slow movement" mode with Alt simply scales the object by 1/10 of your mouse movement, the goal being increased precision. This mode is inherited unchanged all the way from Sodipodi. In my opinion, however, it is weird, counterintuitive and not at all useful. It also has no analogs in other tools. So my question is, will anyone complain if I remove the "slow movement" mode? On the other hand, one useful thing that's missing is the ability to scale the object to 2, 3, 4 and 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 etc of its current size. (This is possible from keyboard by Ctrl+> and Ctrl+< but not by mouse). So I'm thinking about enabling the Alt modifier to do this "quantized scaling". Among other things, this would enable the often needed transformation: flipping an object around one of its bbox edges (by Ctrl+Alt+dragging a side handle). Thoughts? -- bulia byak Inkscape. Howdy! I've just discovered the stamp tool. One thing that is missing... randomization of the object's attributes. It would be nice if this tool allowed for randomization, kind of like the Tiled Clones tool. Until something like that comes to be, is this something that could be cooked up as a filter? Could a filter be created that randomly rotates each individual object in a selection within a given range of values? How about this... could a filter be created that sets the rotation of the individual objects in a selection based on the brightness of an image's pixel value underneath the object's centerpoint? How to copy these features from Adobe Illustrator

**First time Inkscape user** I'm trying to create an SVG file for a 3rd party product. They provide instructions on how to properly create an SVG file for their app, but specify the following: "Make sure the Font Subsetting is set to "None (Use System Fonts)", Encoding is set to "ISO 8859-1 (ASCII)" and CSS Property Location is set to "Style Attributes."" I can't seem to find any comparable settings in Inkscape. How can I know if I'm "compatible"? Also, they talk about a "layer palette": "...layers palette allows you to see all grouping levels on your map. This will allow you to make sure all objects are properly grouped before exporting. [...] all dynamic objects must be grouped with a text while all static objects must remain ungrouped." I couldn't find similar functionality in Inkscape to view the layers (or at least I don't think so). Marco

Dropper not working

For some reason, since I upgraded to the second Beta of 0.45 the dropper tool hasn't worked. I'm running the final version 0.45 and the issue is still present. With both "Pick Alpha" and "Set Alpha" set it always picks the RGBA value, 00000000. With "Pick Alpha" disabled I get ffffff. Selecting an average stroke colour works. It's only when attempting to pick a single pixel does it not work. For some reason, if I search long enough, I can find stray pixels that can be sampled. Not often can I get their true colour though. I can sample colours from bitmaps I use in the drawings. Tablet - Panning doesn't work with Pen

I have a button on my Wacom Intuos3 tablet assigned to "middle click" with the intention of using it when I need to pan the canvas. When I hold the button and move the pen, nothing happens. If I hold it and move the mouse the panning works fine. Is there something I can do to fix this?
