Poor performance browsing remote file systems using save as etc.

Hiya guys, this is my first post. I have read the DOCs and tried a google for this info. I am using inkscape on both MacOSX and Win32 for my PhD thesis diagrams. Its excellent, all credit to you guys for producing an excellently usable vector package. My comment is it is extremely slow (up to 15s to display the contents of a directory) when using the save as or open or any file handling through the GUI. In fact its so slow I use the OS finder/explorer as much as possible (1 -- 2s to display) to get about giving inkscape direct paths via cut and paste. Is this a known issue? Is it caused by trying to generate thumbnails for each file? I am using 0.43 at the moment. Cheers, and hope this hasn't been addressed elsewhere. Matthew Swabey

So you *are* the mailing list admin? I thought that you may be, but I did not want to make assumptions. The problem is not SourceForge. The problem is that this mailing list permits attachments, which is (for a number of reasons) a *very* bad idea. Now that I know for certain that you are the list admin, and that you are aware of the problem, but that you have decided to let it continue, I will unsubscribe. I will also make sure that when I recommend Inkscape in the future (which I do, on a regular basis) that I make sure to warn people NOT to subscribe to the mailing list. Hy everybody, i was looking for a function that could help me go faster duplicating and aligning objects in the same time. I thaught the "Tile Clones" was the one, but i don't manage to do what i want. Here is joined an example(question_about_clones.jpg) : i would like to clone the arc from the center in one function. nice icons

I like the new icons. This is a big improvement and is another feature under Inkscape's belt. I am using Inkscape 0.43+devel, built Apr 12 2006. I installed via Klik on Simply Mepis 3.4.-3. It works great.

Irregular Lines, and coding.

Hi all. I have been tinkering with Inkscape for the last few days and I've found it an excellent tool for creating images! One thing I can't find, but I have seen someone do it, is to have Inkscape create an irregular line. Now, I am not a coder, and it seems that the fella who did create the extension to squiggle his lines was. So, I have no clue how to go about doing that for myself. What resources are out there to let me do what I am after? And, a bonus question! (feel lucky, dontcha? ;) ) Where is some place I can learn, in very tiny snippets, to code extensions to Inkscape? Thank you so much for any and all help, it will be appreciated! -Mike
