Heya all, We've set up a brand new mailing list for Inkscape translators. You can subscribe to it here: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/inkscape-translator The purpose of this list is to discuss localization and translation issues of Inkscape and its documentation. Here's a sampling of specific topics the translators have proposed discussing on the list: - where are we ? (what are the translation status ? Which languages need some more commitment...) - where do we (translators) usually face some issues ? (specific vocabulary, synchronization with development...) - get some best practices from the ML and then, write them down on the wiki - share experiences on specific blocking points - take a look at the various tasks, on different levels : (core software strings, tutorials, text docs, web pages...) Hi, I am interested in having an option to start inkview fullscreen + have left/right mouse buttons change slides. I could try to code that. I can see inkscape got --slideshow option - are there plans to integrate inkview into inkscape? I hope not. Karol

Printing dialog doesn't display

I've got inkscape 0.43 (april 13 2006) running on freeBSD 6.0/kde 3.5.2 I'd like to set print parameters. When I select print the page goes straight to the printer. In this case it is an A4 page in landscape mode, it gets printed in portrait mode. malcolm

saving palette settings and random tree positining

I really like the new palette at the bottom of my screen. But..., I noticed that Inkscape does not remember my Palette settings after I have quit Inkscape. Is that intentional? Another question: Why does the random tree (as in effects) always appear (at least in my latest CVS inkscape version) at the top left corner *above* the page boundaries, instead of the center of the page. The latter would IMO be more user friendly. Finally: When I select to fill an object with a radial gradient, Inkscape always selects to have the full transparency at the borders of the object and the none-transparency at the center of the object. That is fine, but often I just need to have it the other way around. What I do it manually edit the radial gradient to get it my way. It there a 'one-click' way to quickly reverse the gradient? These are really minor issues, but any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there, I am extremely curious to know how to resolve a challenge posted in Tavjongs Inkscape book: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/ch19s01.html I really love his book, it is my (the?) ultimate guide to Inkscape. I still don't know how to recreate the spiral, though, and I can't wait anymore, I *have* to know it *now*, right now :) BTW, there is an inkscape unrelated issue with this list, namely that there is a lot of spam in the inkscape-user list. I am sure I am not the first one commenting on this, so forgive me. What is the best way of dealing with it? Thanks. Gilberto

easy way to transform svg to ps and to pdf

We all know that you currently cannot "save" a pdf or ps file with transparency/gradients, but we know that you can 'print' transparency/gradients by selecting the print as bitmap. The resulting PS/PDF is obviously not vector oriented anymore, but from a pragmatic point of view that doesn't matter. I use this 'trick' from the command line inkscape options to quickly transform multiple svg files into pdf files. Just take the following lines and put them in a file. Make them executable (chmod 755, at least for linux/unix platforms). And then call it svg2pdf . It works fine and I find it very useful. If you use one argument, it will create a file tmp.ps, which you can easily transform in a pdf file using ps2pdf. If you use 2 arguments, the first one is DPI and the second the svg file.
