Hi, I just was asked to try out the latest CVS version of pango, and it worked: Kerning for the font arial.ttf worked with inkscape, rsvg, gimp,... regards Hadmut

Hey folks, I was wondering if there is a way to convert the drawing I made using inkscape into a .jpg file? Everytime I try and 'export as bitmap' is does so as a .png file. Thanks! Patrick

As I expected, there's nothing unusual about the SVG, and on my system it is shown with correct kerning both in 0.43 and current svn. I can only speculate that something is wrong on your system with either the font, or the freetype/pango installation. Inkscape takes the kerning information from Pango, and there's currently no switch to turn kerning off. So if there's no kerning, most likely Pango provides none. Try upgrading Pango, running in a different locale, or using other fonts. If nothing helps, file a bug with screenshots, SVG, and very detailed info on your platform and all used libs. calligrafic tool + pattern ?

Hi, I am trying to make something like this: http://hagoschaos.de/test/ with Inkscape. I am looking for a relatively simple method to achieve this. I thought about the calligrafic tool, working with a pattern instead of a simple color. Is this possible? I don't know much about how to use patterns... Any idea? Regards, Hago

embed imported bitmaps into SVG file

Hi, I'm looking for a way to actually embed an imported bitmap (PNG) file into the SVG file. I've tried the inkskape's import bitmap functionality, but this will only generate a link to the external bitmap file (either as <image> or <pattern> depending on the prefs). The resulting SVG file won't display correctly without the imported PNG file present in the same directory. Is there a way to tell inkscape to actually encode the imported bitmap into the SVG file. The SVG specs do allow embedded base64 encoded PNG files. Does anyone know if there's another editor capable of doing this, if inkscape isn't? Any help greatly appreciated! Kurt
