Hello, Why don't you include all the example images from the home page with the Inkscape program? There should be a help page for these where you can quickly scan through all of them. Using a JPEG image as a pattern

Hi all, I have created a sketch with CorelDraw, which includes several patterns (e.g. a concrete and a sand pattern). I have saved this sketch to SVG with Corel Draw, which resulted in a SVG file and a folder containing the patterns in the form of JPEG images named "filename_ImgIDn.jpg", where filename is the name of the original Corel Draw fle, and n varies from 1 to 4 as there were four patterns. When I open the file with Inkscape, the objects that were filled with such patterns are now transparent (no fill). If I select such an object, in the Fill and Stroke dialog, Fill tab, after selecting "pattern" I have a menu with id1, id2, id3 and id4. But whatever is selected, the object remains transparent. Is there a way to import the JPEG files in my SVG document to be used as patterns? Thanks in advance, HervÃ© -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

My "layer3" object is set be invisible ("display:none"), so from the command line I did: inkscape file.svg --export-id "layer3" --export-png t.png The document was printed to t.png - cropped to the size of the layer3 object, and the layer3 is still invisible :-(. In any case, I do not want to id the layers, I want to use their name, it is easier, i.e. the_name in inkscape:label="the_name". How would I turn off a layer for printing via a command line without ever entering the GUI? I could write a script and output to temp files... then invoke inkscape. Thanks, Martin

Slide shows

Hello list, Soon I will have to prepare slides for the lectures. My chief's obvious choice was MS PowerPoint, mine was OOo Impress. Since the slides will inlcude many diagrams I think inkscape would be best choice and slides can be enhanced with animations once inkscape has animations implemented. A couple of issues: 1. cd my_svgs; inkview *.svg segfaults, while inkscape -s *.svg works fine 2. Can I run `inkscape -s *' in fullscreen? 3. Would an RFE for inkview from layers (many slides in one file) sound reasonable? 4. Would an RFE for exporting layers into files sound reasonable? Thanks for all answers. Not these easy to unselect or unhide objects ...
