Hi, This one should probably go to devel, but since I am not subscribed: I have got English interface in inkscape 0.42 from autopackage. My locale is fine and is used by gimp & friends. The problem seems to be here: fstat64(6, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=111332, ...}) = 0 mmap2(NULL, 111332, PROT_READ, MAP_PRIVATE, 6, 0) = 0x40a11000 close(6) = 0 open("/usr/local/share/locale/pl_PL/LC_MESSAGES/inkscape.mo", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/local/share/locale/pl/LC_MESSAGES/inkscape.mo", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/proc/self/maps", O_RDONLY) while autopackage puts the ".mo" here: /usr/share/locale/pl/LC_MESSAGES/inkscape.mo Is it my distro (PLD Linux) problem, autopackage or inkscape's problem? The problem gets fixed when I put .mo to right directory. Karol

clone / dublicate with fixed values

hi, not sure if I am in the right place here ?! Just one question: how is it possible to create a defined number of lines with a defined fixed spacing? e.g. I have one thin line that I want to clone 10 times in horizontal direction and they should have a fiexed spacing of e.g. 1cm from each other. I used clone tile for it, but there are only percent-values possible to clone e.g. horizontaly. Thanks

I have noticed several times that when I have an object selected and open the fill and stroke dialog (usually with the icon on the toolbar at the top of the screen), that when I use the little arrows to the right of the number box in the stroke style tab to raise/lower the width of the stroke, that BOTH arrows act to raise the value! The only way I can get a lesser value is to just input the number. Even this sometimes does weird things. I will put in a number and then it will change to a higher value by itself. I went to the sourceforge bug tracker thingy to try to put in a report...but could not for the life of me figure out how to do it, so I figured I'd post it here. As a side note, twice now when I have combined two objects into one with the boolean union function, then converted them to a path so as to remove some unwanted details by selecting the unnecessary nodes and clicking the little "minus" icon to remove them; the program locks up. I have also been zoomed quite a bit to distinguish between the nodes. I realize this is not a very in depth report, I am just wondering if anybody else has had anything like this happen. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? HELP ! no text in IE6

I am just starting with inkscape 0.42 ... it looks very promissing: but from the 7th or 8th use of it ... I see the text and page backgound color in the Inkscape window, but not when I open the .svg in IE6 (lines and shapes yes, but text no) . Someone can help ? Cloned objects and stroke

Hi, I cloned A into B. Now when scaling B the stroke on B scales too - no matter that Scale-stroke-width-button is off. I believe I am doing something wrong. Thanks in advance, Karol

In case anybody is interested...here is a little something I whipped up last night. Took me maybe three hours, plus another hour exporting to Gimp and resizing/converting to JPEG (three times). It isn't the first thing I made, but it is the first I have posted anywhere. Now the whole thing about this is: I can't draw worth a crap, but I am not too bad at sculpting, with Inkscape, I was able to "sculpt" this drawing in two dimensions. This is a very cool program, in some ways more useful than the Gimp. I haven't messed with paths in Gimp too much, because I kept getting results that weren't what I wanted. moving an object with a gradient

How does one move an object while preserving its gradient fill? Seems like when I move the object, the fill remains stationary while the object moves away. Thanks, Wayne inkscape 0.42

Complex Shapes, Flowing Text and Justification

Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie to Inkscape, but so far am really impressed. It's one hell of a product, even though it's not v1.0 yet. As with all such projects, it's sometimes hard for us newbies to get to grips with things because of a lack of examples and documentation. Since I've been struggling for a couple of days, I thought I'd write up how to create complex shapes, flow text into shapes and get text to be justified. Clearly, for most users this isn't rocket science, but it might save another new user a bit of time. All the fun is at http://www.coofercat.com/wiki/InkScape (including, importantly, an SVG example).
