RFE proposal

Hey, this idea might already be an RFE. Someone tell me what to do! When I select multiple objects and set the HUE or SATURATION (actually, any of the controls on the color picker) then I want the control to apply to each object without changing the other parameters. For example, I have two squares, one red and one blue. If I change the saturation then the hue should not change. The red square should stay red and the blue square should stay blue, only the saturation of the blue and red should change. A problem about the PNG export

Hi all, just a little problem about the PNG export : the SVG src : http://florentgabriel.ouvaton.org/temporaire/Verre.svg and the smally generated PNG : http://florentgabriel.ouvaton.org/temporaire/Verre.svg.png There is a problem with the stroke of the glass: at this small size, it seems to be less black than the parasol's stroke... Does anyone know a way to solve this problem ? Florent

illustrator import with image support

hi, I've been improving ill2svg.pl script like it supports embbedded images export from illustrator file. It only works with 16bit images (24 also i guess). Naming policy is kinda stupid right now starts from 0.png to xx.png until all the images are exported. If you have such files please test it and let me know. There is 2 files: ill2svg_image.pl is the script ill2svg_image.diff is diff file to current CVS situation. You also need ImageMagick perl module! Check from http://www.cpan.org how to get it from CPAN if you don't have it. test usage (linux): Download ill2svg_image.pl chmod +x ill2svg_image.pl ./ill2svg_image.pl image_file.ai > image_file.svg inkscape image_file.svg test usage (windows): Haven't done this;) Would be something like this perl ill2svg_image.pl image_file.ai > image_file.svg start inkscape Tuukka

Hmm, which version of Inkscape are you using. Bulia changed the selection markers so that they are complete inverses of what is under them - so they should be easier to see. Right now, many of the underpinnings are there, but there isn't a user friendly way to use it. So, it's definitely in the works. --Ted

Inkscape 0.39pre3

Has been put on to Sourceforge (actually it happened last night, but I forgot to write the e-mail :) This signals the feature freeze for 0.39, and the start of bug fixing. Hey guys, I don't know that it is obvious from Tuukka's e-mail, but this is something that we really need user's help on. The problem is that most of the developers don't use Illustrator (they use Inkscape :) ) so we don't have a good collection of Illustrator files to test this out with. I'm convinced that we have lots of users that use both Illustrator and Inkscape, or used Illustrator in the past. This makes having Illustrator import capability very important. So, seriously, if anyone has any Illustrator files, please test them against this Perl script. Don't think that someone else will do it. --Ted

Because the output is rather ugly, I may write my own output module at some point, but for now this solution works. Inkscape Text Rendering Strangeness...

Hello! I know it's been quite some time since I wrote to this list, but I've been monitoring it and reading up on what's going on. I just used the latest autopackage nightly to get up to date with Inkscape-0.39 and I'm impressed, with both Inkscape and Autopackage! Lately I've been quite busy making working on a project of mine called SVG-Utils, which is basically a collection of scripts to manipulate SVG files, and a Python library to manipulate and create SVG files on the fly. I've yet to make an official release, but we are in the bug testing phase as I type this. You can read more about the project on this site: http://programmer-art.org/?page=svg-utils One interesting bug that has cropped up occurs when I use the library to output some text and tspan elements. As an example I have included the original file, the output of svggrayscale.py, Inkscape's saved version of the output, and a fixed version of Inkscape's output. It seems to be adding extra text XML elements (tabs, newlines, spaces) when loaded in Inkscape, so the text displays with an offset to the right. At first I thought it was a problem with SVG-Utils, but librsvg 2.7.2 renders the output from svggrayscale correctly, so now I'm not sure. I hope you could look into this issue and help me to understand why it is happening. textest.svg is the original textest-bad.svg is the output from my svggrayscale.py script textest-bad2.svg is textest-bad.svg saved through inkscape textest-bad3.svg is textest-bad2.svg with the spacing fixed through Inkscape's XML editor Thanks, Daniel G. SVG that doesn't display in Inkscape.

Hi all, I just downloaded from the Creative Commons website their logos in SVG format and I cannot get them to load properly in Inkscape 0.38. I view them just fine in GQView, so I know that they are there, but I get a blank screen in Inkscape. http://creativecommons.org/presskit/ Any ideas what's going on? Thanks, Lee McLain

ANNOUNCE: Open Clip Art Library 0.04 Release

Release 0.04 of the Open Clip Art Library is now available for download from the OCAL website: http://www.openclipart.org/downloads/ This release represents over 600 separate images thanks to a number of artists. The theme of this release is 'Summer'; please see the RELEASE_0.04.svg file for examples of summer contributions. :-) All of the clipart in the package are attributed as to their author, and all images are placed in the Public Domain, allowing use for any purpose without restriction. Our goal is to do for vector art what Wikipedia has done for reference information. We want to build the biggest and most open collection of free vector art in the world. So if you find these images of use, please consider contributing back and help us fill in the gaps. For details, see: http://www.openclipart.org Our next release will be in late July.
