Hi, yesterday I discovered a post at comp.graphics.apps.gimp entitled "Learn from XARA" (see here: http://groups.google.de/group/comp.graphics.apps.gimp/browse_thread/thread/… and - the "I-know-better-than-you-guys" attitude of the initial poster aside -, (as well as the fact that comparing GIMP & XARA is like comparing apples & oranges), I wonder if anyone tried to do this kind of complex technical drawing (of cars, etc.) that is being displayed at the XARA web site (http://www.xara.com/gallery/), using Inkscape? Problem with bitmap export

Hi! I installed Inkscape 0.42+devel (Oct 14 2005) autopackage, edited one of my map-drawings and tried to export it to a 590 pixel wide bitmap but some fill and line-color settigs seems to change during export. Problem disappears with wider exports (750 pixels wide export looks just fine). What might be a problem? Inkscape 0.43pre0

First prerelease of all the goodness being expected in Inkscape 0.43. This is not recommended for production use, it still has known bugs in it. It is recommended that you download it, play with it, and find more bugs. If all packagers could try to make packages from this tarball, that would be helpful for removing packaging bugs. Exported PDF and EPS bounding box

New user warning... I imported some eps graphics from my statistics program (R) and then modified them for publication. The final graphic fits neatly within the page on the Inkscape screen, but when I export the picture to PDF or EPS, the drawing is too large to fit on the page. (viewing with xpdf or evince). Not even epstool --copy --bbox was able to fix the bounding box of the exported file. What can I do to fix the bounding box on export (and what did I do wrong to screw this up)? Inkscape 0.42.2 compiled from source on Ubuntu 5.10 Linux. Hello to all, This is my first message to the list, so it may be duplicated or not adequate. Sorry in advance! I am really enjoying Inkscape, specially in conjunction with TeX for scientific documentation. However, I miss the possibility of importing TeX material (e.g. complex labels and maths). After some tests, I think that a transparent way to implement the above feature could be through the following script: 0. Open a text box to input TeX commands (e.g. text) 1. Run copy header.tex + text + footer.tex > clip.tex 2. Run pdfelatex clip.tex 3. Run pstoedit -dt -f svg clip.pdf clip.svg 4. File-Import: clip.svg 5. Run delete clip.* where header.tex could be something like: \documentclass{article} \usepackage[latin1]{inputenc} \usepackage[english]{babel} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \begin{document} \thispagestyle{empty} and footer.tex: \end{document} I have tested this path manually under MSWindows using pstoedit 3.42 without problems. I know the SVG backend of pstoedit is not freeware, but as long as text is converted to curves by -dt, the output does not seem distorted (e.g. fontname distortion). I'm currently compiling a set of symbols for crime scene sketching. It should have all of the interior items that you need. The library will be bmps. While I know that not everyone will be happy with that it allows us to use them crossplatform an in diffrent programs.
