Printing to Minolta 1350W problems

I have a Minolta 1350W PagePro printer and I am having problems printing different sized medium. I create a doc page size of 3.5"x5.5" and draw what I need to draw. Now the problem happens when I try to print. The Minolta feeds paper in the middle. I.e. there are two paper edge slides that meet in the middle. But, when printing, inkscape wants the to start printing at the far left. So, it entirely misses the card! Plus, the Minolta can not feed unless the card stock is placed in the center. The printing options have nothing to correct this. You can not even select standard paper size options that the ppd allows. Only paper thickness. So how do I get inkscape top print where the printer has the media, in the center? tj

Installing Inkscape on Scientific Linux

Hello Folks, As you know Scientific Linux is intended to be a more secure and stable version of RedHat. uname -a results in: Linux "systemname" 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 20 01:05:28 EST 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux and the file: /etc/redhat-release gives: Scientific Linux SL release 5.4 (Boron) From an earlier attempts I learned to install glibmm. among other packages. This module was installed with the rpm-command: rpm -ivh glibmm24-2.8.12-1.i386.rpm warning: glibmm24-2.8.12-1.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:glibmm24 ########################################### [100%] So I-am somewhat confused that with installing Inkscape there is an error- message that package glibmm is not found, see below. Save by default in Documents (MacOS X 10.6)

Hi, I want to fix in our schools the default place to save in Inkscape. By default, it saves in home directory, i want to change it to Home directory/Documents. Even if i choose it one time, ween i relaunch Inkscape (0.4.7), the default place is always the same. An idea ? Many thanks in advance Christian

How to add object properties

Hi list, I want to add some new properties to the inkscape "object properties" window. I would like to use inkscape for the generation of some specific interface files but need more than "id","onclick","onmouseover",etc. It would be somewhat of a solution to just use "onclick" as "I/O input" but it would be so much nicer to be able to rename or add these properties. Is it possible to change these things from within inkscape ? Kind regards Bram

manual text kerning in 0.47

Dear all, I am teaching myself Inkscape (0.47) under Linux (Ubuntu 9.10). So today I looked at manual text kerning, but it just doesn't work, even though I am faithfully following instructions I found online. So, I created some text, double-clicked it, and moved in between single letters. Then I tried Alt-RightArrowKey, and nothing happens. Same thing with the other arrow keys. Shift-Alt-ArrowKeys also no luck. Needless to say, rotating can't be done either. Am I doing sth. wrong here, or is that a bug? Thanks for your helpful comments! David

Automatically fitting A4 image to A4 page?

People, After I have scanned an A4 page, it would be nice to import it into Inkscape and automatically fit it to the A4 outline to continue work on the page (to add text and signature images etc to it) but it doesn't seem possible? Snap problem

This is something I've been meaning to comment of for ages :? I've been in the habit of grouping objects for schematic components then surrounding them with an invisible bounding box (thinnest possible line with no colour) that is 1mm grid aligned. This has worked perfectly on older versions of Inkscape so I could quickly and precisely position these objects. However with 0.47 the snap behaviour has become extremely difficult to handle. It seems now that every single point in the object will try to act as a snap focus and accurate positioning is a nightmare :( Can anyone suggest a way to get bounding box only snapping? -- Will J Godfrey http://www.musically.me.uk Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
