Hi everyone! Time for a bit of an update on where things are at with the upcoming release! Here's some quick points... others may have more to add in reply. 1. We've made a start on the release announcement... http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/AnnouncePlanning047 But could do with some help getting it finished off! The release notes show what's new and different http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ReleaseNotes047 So the major new features and improvements need to be summarised and added to the release, and we need to get the translations started too! 2. We are gathering user stories to help show the world how we use Inkscape and why we love it! This will help us bring life to the press release announcements... much more interesting to read what real people thinkm rather than some dull press release! http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/UserStories047 Add your story now! :) You can also help out by blogging about Inkscape and using twitter and identi.ca to spread the word! Perhaps add a line to your email signature like I have. (see the bottom of the this email) Perhaps someone could make some 0.47 is coming badges for people to add to their websites and blog posts? 3. The about screen contest has produced some amazing work! http://inkscapers.deviantart.com/journal/24582792/ Congratulations to everyone who has submitted such fantastic contributions - I'm blown away by everyone's creativity and talent! And soon we can all join in with the voting! 4. regular .deb snapshots are available here http://ubuntu.cafuego.net/dists/jaunty-cafuego/inkscape/ [find me on #inkscape if you want a new snapshot and it's been over a week since one was posted] 5. Hey All, The submission portion of the contest has concluded and it is now time to vote. Things have been simplified this go 'round. Woah!!! I just had a look at the about screen contest (http://inkscapers.deviantart.com/journal/24582792) and.... WOAAAAAHHHH... It is absolutely amazing what people have made. There are many many many drawings that I like. Great work all of you who submitted something!! (It's cool that quite a few people tried to visualize "refactoring" too.) Cheers, Johan

Hi there - I've just downloaded Inkscape version 0.46 for the first time. The file was a universal binary file; however, when I tried to open it, my computer showed me the message "You cannot use the Application 'Inkscape' with this version of OSX." Am I missing something basic here about the program's compatabilities? Jeff

character deleted ofter applying 'Difference'

Hello, I am trying to get some text to fit within a cone, sort of a 'sand-clock' where each letter gradually gets smaller to a point and then it increases. I do this: 1) select the text 2) Path -> Object to Path (Shift+CTRL+C) 3) Path -> Break Apart (Shift+CTRL_K) Then for each charecter with hole in them select the interior and the exterior and apply Difference. Here is the problem, on some characters such as CAPITAL 'A' or LOWERCASE 'p' when I select it and apply the Difference (CTRL+-) the character is deleted. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Norman
