Hey All, With the About Screen Contest for 0.47 underway, one of the easiest things we all can do to help is to spread the word via social networking means. Whether it be blogging, tweeting (or RTs), posting on forums, you name it... the more of us that talk about, the more attention it will get. This contest PR effort could prove to be a good test of some of the needed PR mechanisms to make the announcement of 0.47 (when it is released) as loud, far reaching, and relevant as possible. So, again... the announcement which needs to be shown love (digg style button, yes it requires registration like digg) is here: http://news.deviantart.com/article/79268/ The more people that show the article love, the more people it will end up attracting the attention of on DA (which is important since it is the largest online art community/potential userbase). Want to help get us new users? This alone is one of the most effective methods. Note, even if you're not interested in signing up at DA to show love, you should still spread the word. :) Cheers, Josh P.S. Inkscape 0.47 About Screen Contest

Special Bug Hunt Spree this weekend (May 9-10)!

Hey All, As mentioned in the proposed release schedule, this weekend, May 9-10 we will have a special effort to squash as many bugs as possible in a 48 hour period. If you can make time to participate it would be greatly appreciated by all. Even if you aren't a programmer, you can help to confirm that bugs are indeed fixed by others. Dates: May 9-10 Place: #inkscape on Freenode (or Jabber for the cool kids ;)) Goal: Fix at least a quarter of our goal of 500pts (125pts in 2 days). Reward: Being part of making 0.47 our best and most stable release ever. Be there or be square! Cheers, Josh

Trouble with kerning

Hello, I can't seem to adjust the kerning in text. I've been able to adjust it in the past (alt + arrows), but now it just won't work. I'm using Vista OS. Any thoughts on how I can fix this problem? Thank you. Julie

Printing PDF files - problem

Inkscape 0.46 Ubuntu 8.1 Does anyone have a suggestion When I print to file (PDF) the system always produces 2 pages, even if I set the print range at "1" Is this an Inkscape problem or how Cairo handles the output? I have tried putting a small image in the centre of the page, just in case something was spilling over, and get the same result With thanks Terry

Fill pattern and eps export

Hi there, when exporting to eps (and also to pdf) I lose all the fill patterns in my drawing. I'm using the standard hatch patterns like "Stripes 1:8" with Inkscape 0.46. Is there a trick to conserve them? TIA! Cheerz, Lars

Hello all, I'm a low-level user of inkscape, I just open image files from a Geographical Information System in svg format, modify them and export to png/pdf files. As soon as I realized Inkscape has support to the python language scriptting, I try making a script that do for itself the frecuently-used actions I actually do in the files (Just modify some xml attributes of the same objects and export it to png). As I don't Know python language (I program in C/C++/vba) , May anyone guide me where I could get examples for that? I've just looked for in the inkscape wiki, but I'm a bit lost.
