Hey All, One of the last major contests held on DA was won by an Inkscape user. Hello, friends. I know inkscape is a vectorial tool, and not a raster one. But I think these two operations make sense as well on vectorial images (at least I am needing them). Vertical bottoms (oo-er)

Hi I know it has been brought up before[1] but does anyone know if 1) it is possible to hack Inkscape 0.46 to make the vertical ruler zero at the top rather than the bottom of the page (or at least make it user selectable), or 2) whether there are plans afoot in future versions to implement this Personally I find it one of the biggest PITA with Inkscape and very counter-intuitive for my Anglocentric brain. Inkscape and a triangulation tool, such as Gmsh

Hi all, I am looking for a way to generate a 2D triangulation of a shape (in the attachment) by Inkscape using a triangulation tool, such as Gmsh (http://geuz.org/gmsh/) or else. I am wondering if anyone has done this before. It will be great if I can reload the output into inkscape afterwards. Any idea helps. Thanks, Mengda

Text un-bolds after saving as pdf via Cairo?

Hello all, this is my first post so apologies for any bad etiquette! I have been using Inkscape to crop pdf's of graphs for a report I'm writing. This involves importing the A4 pdf page, selecting the graph or figure and then fitting the document size to the selection. I then re-save as a pdf via Cairo, which has been working really well! Nice, sharp correctly sized graphs. However, I've noticed that bold text (axis titles) un-bolds after saving, any ideas on how to stop this? I've tried importing at high precision, but no luck. Also there's a drop down box that specifies how text it handled, but I only have the option to "import as text". Thanks in advance! Alex

Can math support be enabled on the Wiki, please?

I would very much appreciate it if math support could be enabled on the Inkscape Wiki. Specifically, I'd like to use it for the Advanced Gradients page. I'm sending it to the list(s) because I have no idea who is "in charge" of the Wiki, so if you do know, that would help as well.

> Any volunteers to do the cleanup? I did some changes, but I found some problems too. Different browsers render text differently, and not all systems have the freesans font used. A solution would be to convert every text to paths, wich increases the size of the file but renders correctly. Opera (for linux at least, what I tested) has problems with gradients to alpha, apparently. Here are my adjustments. Maybe some of them will have to be rolled back to the previous version (the title part) if we'll stick with the text not converted to curves. -Tweaked the bridge. A lot. As far as I could see, every browser seems to render it diferently. The one that has the text part converted to paths renders fine in browsers, but is quite large. Maybe some guy with better knowledge than me about SVG can do a manual cleanup of the result and reduce the size (inkscape uses to leave some unnecesary style definitions) ideas? Regards, Gez.

Inkscape mini-conference?

I'm a long-time Inkscape user, and we use it in the production of many of our books. The UKUUG (the UK's Unix and open systems User Group) runs two technical conferences a year. This summer, the group wants to get as many different free software projects involved as possible. The venue is already booked and most of the arrangements are made, so adding extra tracks or mini-confs is easy. Possible Inkscape-related ideas: - an Inkscape developers summit. We can provide a dedicated meeting room. - a separate "mini-conf" running alongside the UKUUG conference. - an InkScape track within the main conference. - a "Getting started with Inkscape" tutorial for newbies, or an advanced tutorial? If you've any ideas, or would just like to bounce ideas around, give me a shout.
