One more vote in favour of keeping Inkscape running in some way after closing the last document, so that the next one can be opened without a need to re-load Inkscape. Nicer SVG support outside Inkscape?

Hello, This is more of a whish than anything else, but perhaps raising the issue will grab some attention from the developers of other SVG rendererers out there. The basic problem is that graphics generated with Inkscape usually don't display just as nice in other platforms --- specifically, text kerning and colours and other properties get screwed up, as do images sometimes. This is an important blocker to the creation of SVG wallpapers, or icons that contain some of the poorly supported features, or for using SVG and Inkscape for purposes other than illustration. Right now I am preparing a presentation, for example. It isn't too much of a fuss to pass a series of commands through the terminal and generate PNG versions of all the SVGs, but it would just be a smoother process if I could take any image viewer (like Ristretto or Gthumb) and cycle through the images. Inkview does a great work in representing the SVG from Inkscape accurately. So, my question is: why aren't other projects borrowing code from Inkview and using it to paint their own SVGs? Making an axonometric linedrawing by manually tracing a 3D-Cad screenshot

I do have some questions concerning technical linedrawings with inkscape: 1. I take a screenshot of 3D-CAD a model that is rotated in a standard axonometric view. For example an isometric projection 30°-30°. 2. I import the screenshot into inkscape. 3. In "inkscape preferences" dialog in option "steps" Is set "rotation snaps every" to 30°. 4. By holding down "Strg" I can easily trace the screenshot. However when I have the 3D-CAD model rotated to some other axonometric view, for example 25-25°. This helpful technique is no more possible, since I can only choose from a list of predifined values in "rotation snaps every". I´d like to put in any kind of value. Should this be on the wishlist? Another question: I want to move an object along a defined axis. When I hold down "strg" I can move a selected object along the vertical and horizontal axis. Are there ways and techniques in inkscape to do that kind of thing along any kind of axis. Raster to Vector conversion software

What is the best raster to vector conversion software to use with inkscape on Mac osx? I am currently using Delineate but I am looking for better performance and changing the conversion settings doesn't seem to be doing it for me. Thanx

Hi Pankaj 1. Try printing as bitmap. In the print dialogue, select Rendering -> Bitmap. This is a workaround most printing problems. 2. ?? I think it should be to scale. Size the page the same as your paper and view on 100%. 3. See 1 4. See the preferences under the File menu. Someone else may know more... Import .cdr files?

On another list I found someone who had a whole library of clip art in .cdr format which appparently is a Corel Draw vector format. Will Inkscape import these files? 'inkscape:original-d' attribute

what is the significance of the 'inkscape:original-d' attribute, I mean what action causes it to be present? I'm finding that when it is present, then it is no longer possible to edit the d attribute as one normally would in the XML editor, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/223986 . printing images

Hi, I have a file containing some text and one image which is embedded in the file. It all looks fine on the screen, but when I attempt to print the artwork (to a pdf file or a physical printer) the image does not appear. I have attached the Inkscape file in question. Any help would be much appreciated. I am using Inkscape 0.46 on Windows XP and Windows 2000. SVG Viewer for IE

Hi, to view SVG in IE I use the Adobe SVG Viewer Plugin. The plugin is not longer supported from Adobe and I am looking for a new plugin. Are any other viewers for IE available ? My tests with IE 7 have shown problems, eg. SVG overlaps divs as you can see in the screenshot. I have already tested the Renesis Player without success!
