Snaping to Objects

Hello, I have a problem regarding the "Snap nodes to Objects" feature. When I created a simple test document, the feature worked as expected. I drew some straight lines and moved them and their ends snapped together. When I tried exactly the same thing in a more complex document (not too complex, a 33kB SVG-File), it didn't work any more, "Snap nodes to Objects" appeared to have no effect at all. The fun part is that I tried copying the objects in question back into a plain document - and then it worked again. Any ideas? Thanks Marc -- Dipl.-Inform. question about eps under inkscape

I tried to export a graphic I created in Inkscape to eps. It worked, sort of. It seemed to trash my gradients, making them solid, and it looked like there was no anti aliasing. Does eps not support gradients? Or is support for eps incomplete in Inkscape? ____________________________________________________________________________________ The fish are biting. IMO a much better improvement of the guides would be colored guides, so they could be distinguishable. sublayers can not have same names as layers or sublayers of other layers

To Scale Drawing

I'm using inkscape for crime scene drawing. It works great and is very easy to teach. I have tried to do to scale drawings and been unable to do so. What I'm looking for is 1 inch = 60 inch type feature. I'm fairly certain there is no easy way to do that now. I was wondering if this was a feature that might in enough demand that it maybe included in future releases? If not any ideas on a work around would be great.

Determining the size of selections

I know in the gimp when you use either the rectangle or elliptical selection you are able to see what the size of the selection. Is there a way in inkscape to determine the size of lets say square or circle. Raster looking hard edges and lines

Is it possible to generate objects and line with hard edges? The Illustrator version would be to convert vector shapes into rasterized versions of itself. Announced 12 February, 2007 - Building on the overwhelming success of last year's Libre Graphics Meeting in Lyon, France, key Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) graphics projects are pleased to announce the second Libre Graphics Meeting (LGM), to be held in MontrÃ©al, QuÃ©bec, Canada, May 6, 2007 at Ãcole Polytechnique de MontrÃ©al. This year's LGM provides a venue where FLOSS graphics application developers, users and professional artists from all over the world meet to discuss collaboration, outline the future of the projects together, with the goal of increasing interaction between developers, professional graphics artists and print professionals to improve the steadily expanding FLOSS graphics' application ecosystem. This ecosystem consists of open source projects such as Blender - a 3D creation application, Scribus - a professional grade page layout application, GIMP - a versatile and mature image editor, Inkscape - a user friendly, yet powerful vector drawing application for SVG, Krita - a rapidly maturing "natural" painting application, Open Clip Art Library - a large public domain collection of freely available artwork, and many other projects focussed on graphics creation and editing.
