NEW: display mode toggle and other goodies

* A new menu command (View > Display Mode > Toggle) and a new keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+<keypad 5>) switch the display mode from Normal to Outline and back. * An object with mask and/or clipping path, when viewed in Outline mode, now displays both the object itself and its clipping path and mask as objects, using different outline colors. By default, clippaths use green outlines, and masks use blue. These colors, as well as the colors of the regular object outlines (default black on light background and white on dark background) are now changeable by editing the "wireframecolors" group in the preferences file (~/.inkscape/preferences.xml). * An object with no fill and no stroke, invisible and not selectable by mouse clicking in normal more, can now be picked by a mouse click in the Outline mode using its visible outline. * To cater for specialized uses, such as preparing input for personal media cutters, Inkscape now has an option to start in the Outline mode upon launch. To enable this, add the following line to your preferences.xml file: <group id="startmode" outline="1"/> placing it after the <group id="options"> opening tag. -- bulia byak Inkscape. Registration Mark

Hi all, Is there a canned way to make a registration mark in a text field? Obviously, we can just draw a circle and position it around a floating letter "R". Is there a cleaner way to do it? Thanks in advance. -Aaron

One of the problems is this that the actual length of the line has to be changed: the arrow is an added item to a line, the line is still drawn the normal way. Because it has some thickness it will also have some thickness at its endpoint, while the requirement is that the endpoint is sharp (the arrow's tip). In order for this to work the line should be made a bit shorter. At the moment this has to be done manually, but perhaps in the near future I can make it so that Inkscape automatically changes the length of the line. Unfortunately I don't have time to work on it for at least this month, sorry. Don't know how it will work with snapping though... Regards, Johan Engelen

Arrows

Hello, I following the Inkscape project for some time and 2 things prevent me of using it and also introducing it in our company (using the Windows version 0.44.1): - My colleagues have to draw some simple technical drawings with arrows. When I use the raster - draw a straight line - change the beginning and the end of a line to an arrow, The tip of those arrows are outside the end or the beginning of the line (start and endpoint are on the raster). I suppose this is a bug - please help me if I'm doing something wrong. - In the Windows Version I can't import any vector graphic other than SVG - at least I didn't find any option. Flowed text missing in browser

Hi, I have created a SVG with regular and flowed text. When I view the SVG i my browser the flowed text does not show. Only if I convert it to a path (Object to Path). Is this the way to do it? Regrads, Jonas

Is there a way to set up inkscape so that it will open in Outline mode?

I use Inkscape to create files for my Wishblade. There is an entire group of scrapbookers who use it for this purpose, we have figured out how to set our default view to landscape, but is there a way to change the display mode to Outline as a default? Thank in Advance Bibi

Remember window position?

CAn Inkscape be set up so that it remembers the position and status of the various windows between sessions? (whether a global or document-specific setting) I'd just like to have the layer and the fill and stroke windows visible and in place whenever I start inkscape.
