Printing to different paper sizes (Win32, Inkscape .44)

Hiho, what is the best way to print a drawing to different paper sizes (A4, A1)? Say one has a drawing that was made for page size A4 (using the borders that inkscape draws when setting that pagesize in the document settings), and wants to print it on A1/A0 (or a .ps file with that size). Simply selecting a larger paper on the printer options doesn't work as expected - inkscape will not use the whole paper, but only a part of it that has the size A4. I could resize the whole drawing to match the new paper size, but re-doing so for every new print (or whenever the papersize changes) is a bit annoying, and sometimes inkscape messes it up. So is there some print-option that allows to "resize drawing to match paper size" or similiar? The question already came up some months ago on this list, but it seemed like noone knew a solution. inkscape and version control/document management

Anyone using Inkscape with CVS or any other version control or document (CVS/Subversion) management system (WebDAV) on a regular basis? To rephrase I am wondering if anyone is checking their SVG documents into a version control system (VCS) of some kind? The reason I ask is I have noticed a trend of requests asking for various advanced Save and Undo features. The task seems like it would be better served by using a document manage system of some kind, and I suspect it may there may be users doing something similar already. I know Adobe includes WebDAV support to provide some basic document management. I also vaguely recall Gnome VFS can be built to include support for various file systems including ones like WebDAV but I do not know if anyone is secrectly using Inkscape with Gnome VFS and WebDAV enabled. I am hoping that if people are already using document management systems or more complicated options such as checking all their files into CVS then we might be able to discuss it here. Afterwards summarising it in the Wiki might help users make the most of the features Inkscape already has rather than attempting more awkward approaches involving undo histories or autosave features. How to fix/align a text to a circle

Hi. I'd like to fix a text to a circle shape. I mean, I'd like to create letters like "FC BAYERN" and "MUNCHEN" in this logo: http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/a/af/Fc_bayern_munchen.gif or "1.FSV" and "MAINZ 05" in this another one: http://encyclopedia.quickseek.com/images/FSV_Mainz_05.png Letters following a rounding shape. NEW: interruptible display for better interactivity

Just committed: * Interruptible display: Previously, Inkscape could not do anything until it finishes the current screen redraw. Now the redraw is made interruptible, so that Inkscape responds to mouse and keyboard input and can abort the current redraw and start over if you do some screen-changing operation. As a result, Inkscape now feels much snappier and more interactive. So, while redraw is not really any faster now, it _feels_ much faster, especially for things like zooming, scrolling, etc. Enjoy. I fixed a couple bugs that were exposed by this change, but there may be more. In particular I suspect there might be a crash when you quit Inkscape while it's redrawing. I got this crash a couple times but it's very hard to nail it down. If you can cause it reproducibly please let me know. Other than that, it's working perfectly for me in the last few days. Special characters and other issues

Greetings! I'm extensively using Inkscape - Windows version 0.44 by arranging scanned sections map back together. I find the program much better than MS Visio Professional 2003 that I was using before. It a faster screen rendering than Visio using the same hardware. Thank you for making Inkscape! I hope that with this comment I could help make Inkscape much better. I notice the following quirks that I hope anybody can answer: 1. Whenever I resize the bitmap figure (the scanned section of a map I am trying to recreate), while pressing the Ctrl<key> and moving the corner section of the figure to resize it properly, it keeps going in all directions making an imperfect resizing. Any thoughts on why this is happening and the fix for this? By the way, the figures are all in jpg format and normally about 1 MB or less. There are times that the inkscape svg file I am assembling can have about 21 figures, meaning a total of 21 MB. 2. When using the text tool, I would like to add special character such as "ñ" using the Alt <key> -164, it won't show the said character. Why could this be and how can I go about it? "Fit page to selection", maintaining grid?

Hello! Is it possible to have the new "Fit Page To Selection" feature maintain the relative grid placement of the objects? I use inkscape exclusively for technical illustration and proper grid placement is really important for my diagrams. At the moment (0.44) the grid seems to be anchored in the lower-left-hand corner of the page, and "fit page to selection" appears to move the bounding box of the selected items such that the bounding-box lower right corner is coincident with the page lower-right-corner, and then crop the excess page. If there's some simple way of getting around this, I'd love to hear it. I've now made over 300 diagrams in inkscape, and it's just been a wonderful experience. Thanks! ...Eric
