Hi Thank you for reading my post , and I'm sorry if this place is not suitable place for this question I have a long list of all pixels in a bitmap for example , i have all X,Y of all pixels and now i want to draw the bitmap using those X,Y s Problem is that i send all this points to a Robotic like machine , and machine will use this points to draw the bitmap (by using sequential hits) on a metal surface. as you know in such machine we should minimize head (mechanical tool that hit the surface to make the bitmap) movement to achieve better overall performance . Now i should find an algorithm or method to sort those X,Y points in a way that head movement become minimum. is there such algorithm around ? Please if i post in wrong forum , let me know right place for this kind of questions Thank you.

"Crayon" color picker

This may be semi-off-topic, but if anyone has an answer for me, it may be the diverse group that uses Inkscape. My primary OS is Mac OS X, although I spend a lot of time in Linux and Windows. One feature in OS X that I just love for some reason is the "crayon" color picker. Does anyone know of anything similar to this that is available for Linux and/or Windows?

Dumb Inkscape questions...

Hello all. A couple of dumb questions (or maybe one two-part question). How do I change the default fill and stroke colors? In other words, right now if I use the "star" tool, the fill color is yellow. How do I change that. Same question on the strok color. I know the answer is probably very simple. I just can't find it. Thanks!

clipboard not working?

Hello again, it's me with yet another issue with Inkscape 0.43, this time the clipboard. I don't seem to be able to copy elements from one window to another. I do remember, however that this was possible to do with Inkscape 0.42 and 0.41; on 0.43, however I'm unable. Whenever I copy a group, shape or anythin of the sort to the clipboard, change the window and try to paste it, I get a message that the clipboard is empty. I assume that each window has, then its own clipboard, as I can paste stuff copied from a window within that same window; either that, or two different Inkscape will spawn two copies of the program and thus two clipboards. I still have to see how does opening a new .svg from the "Open" dialog within the application reacts instead of launching Inkscape from the MIME association in the filemanager (GNOME and Nautilus in my case)... Little, tiny update: Indeed. Apparently when opening an .svg from the filemanager other than the one you are alrady working with, it will spawn a new copy of Inkscape, and thus a new clipboard, where as when opening another .svg from within Inkscape, the two windows will share the same clipboard... Still, I don't remember this behavior with 0.42 and 0.41. I know I have already answered my original question, but still, why is this the case? And (I know there's going to be people who won't agree with me on this) this is actually a great thing! As you can work on several projects at the same time several files each with several instances of the program opened, and they will not interfere with each other. Excellent!

gradients in objects

Why do gradients seem to be a separate entity from a shape? I'm currently trying to draw a shape and have its color as a gradient, using the fill tool. However, when I move the shape around to where I need it to be placed, it would seem as if the gradient is a separate object, as the shape "decolorates" as I move it about the canvas. How can I make the gradient "stick" to the shape? Is it even possible? Thank you.
