Making Screen Units and SVG Units the same

People, When I create a new image, I get a page that, in Landscape mode, is 800 units wide and 600 units high. I know that the origin for the SVG y-axis is at the top-left of the screen and the positive direction is down and the reverse is the case for the Inkscape y-axis and I am not concerned for this exercise about printed output. I just want the absolute units on the screen to correspond to the absolute units in the SVG file that Inkscape produces - is this possible? (I couldn't find anything in the program or Googling . .) Hello Henry, We have an Inkscape User mailing list that is a great place to ask about questions like this, I went ahead and CC'd it here. It is a great place for finding info on using Inkscape. I think that your problem here is probably related to the origin. Inkscape was designed with a Print mindset, putting the axis in the bottom left corner instead of a computer graphics mindset where it is in the upper left corner. SVG doesn't match that. So that means that Inkscape is translating the positions from the GUI to the SVG document. Good luck! Hi everyone, in the Inkscape answers section, there's a question in pt-br. Is anyone who speaks the language available to explain the copy-pasting of a gradient from one object to another to a noob in Portuguese? You were clearly told, before you went ahead and made the page live, that I did not have a working picture plugin. I am not responsible if you do not provide the tools needed to upload image files. It was and/or ought to have been clear to anyone with eyes to see, that the test page relied on external links, and you were directed to this fact. Further, I did not ask you to download files from my web-site. In fact you downloaded the said files without asking, and without my consent. Is this how you generally behave, and treat artists? If so, shame on you, and shame on you for doing it to me. I provided links to those resources only, and not the resources themselves, Inkscape have no claim on them, or right to host those image files. Please remove them, and please refer this matter to the Board. It seems to me, it was a very small thing indeed, especially in the circumstances to ask that someone replace dirty files with clean ones, not least because I did not have the tools, and/or permissions to replace them at that time. We were so close to getting the thing right, and your hostile reaction is totally innapropriate. I have put a lot of hard work into this project, and I have had few thanks for doing so. As a reward for my effort, you have taken artwork which does not belong to you, and in addition you removed my editor priviledges. I cannot trust, or work with you again. Whatever your problem is, it should be with yourself with who you are disappointed, and to be treated and spoken too, by you in this way, is wholly unacceptable. Thanks to you, I have deleted, the guides, and viewBox extension files from my resources directory. The drawings i'm converting were drawn in inkscape originally. Any idea on how to either: suppress the warnings, or fix the issue? opening the drawing in inkscape GUI does not show any anomalies. Transparency bug with clipping ?

Dear all, I'm working on a poster (which needs to be delivered tomorrow...), and when attempting to export it as pdf I realized that some transparency was lost. After quite some time spent trying to figure it out, it turns out that it's most likely because of clipping. Transparent objects in a clipped group loose their transparency when exported, while they keep it if their group is not clipped (e.g. when I ungroup the clipped group). Please see the file attached. Try to export it as pdf, with all defaults. You should see that the circles on the main map at the top are transparent, while those who belong to a group that was clipped (for instance in the zoomed map of Europe at the top, or in both maps at the bottom). This looks a lot like a bug to me. Do you know how I can fix that ? I need the clipped version of the map of course, the other one won't fit in my layout... Thank you in advance for your help.
