Problems using images to fill closed shapes

I have a design made up of a series of closed shapes.I want use Inkscape to ‘fill’ the background of the closed shapes with images of different types of wood. I have managed to partially succeed but there are problems getting a totally satisfactory result.The link https://home.mycloud.com/action/share/247eaacc-4b9f-4cc9-9aae-bf827cea8f2e <https://home.mycloud.com/action/share/247eaacc-4b9f-4cc9-9aae-bf827cea8f2e> is to a pdf file which gives details of how far I have got and the questions I still have.The link also has 3 svg files which are used in the description given in the pdf file. Inkscape Not Useable

Hello, I am having many issues with the current version of Inkscape for Mac OS. Version number is; Inkscape 1.1 (c4e8f9e, 2021-05-24) and it was downloaded from Inkscape's website. *Before I add a bug report, can someone tell me how to completely remove Inkscape from my system? I am using Mac OS Mojave, 10.14.6 on a 2012 Mac Pro computer and Mac OS Catalina, 10.15.7 on an 2012 iMac computer. Both systems are having the similar issues with Inkscape and only Inkscape.* Biggest issues are crashes. Crashes opening various files, crashes closing various files, while crashes while working in Inkscape. I have looked thru the bug lists and see some of the issues there. My previous version, 1.0.2 (e86c8708, 2021-01-15), also had some crashing issues, however, in the latest version, the app is very unreliable and hard to use for even the simplest of drawings. Here is an example. The attached drawing will crash Inkscape. Notice the lines with arrows on the end. Remove the lines with the arrows on the end. Re-create the first line starting at the circle and ending across the 2 horizontal lines. Select the line you just drew and try to add an arrow to the end. Inkscape should crash, at least it did today when I tried this again after the first crash. This was a new drawing in Inkscape. This is just one scenario. I've had crashes adjusting gradients, fills, outlines, object sizes, points in bezier lines, adding and/or adjusting text , , , etc. Many drawings from www.openclipart.org will crash Inkscape when opened or if you try to do any editing in the downloaded svg file. Printing Issues

Hi there, When I print off the item I made on inkscape the words are coming out blurry when I have them on the color background I want, but once i take the background away they come out just fine. I am printing them right off of inkscape. Do you have any solutions for this? Anything would be appreciated. Thanks, Don Maple River Farms 1150 E. Hi Henry, you can learn more about filters here: https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/filters.html Copy-pasting a filter from one object to another is done with Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+Shift+V on the other object. /Resent since original had a large image which needed the moderator. / //I am trying to simulate what would be the effect of using wood veneers in a design created using Inkscape. I know I can create a design with a number of closed areas so that all I have to do is to select a particular area and then choose a colour to fill that area. The picture below shows a selection of typical veneers I want to show. As can be seen the veneers are not a flat colour. Is there any way I can used a scanned image of the veneer so that I can see the variation of colour when I use this to fill a selected area of my design? Inkscape Office Hours: Summary

Hi everyone in the Inkscape Contributor Community, thank you very much to those who had joined us for the first 'Inkscape Office Hours' meeting on July 16th! We had a great time getting to know each other and tossing some ideas around. You all can find the meeting log at https://inkscape.org/paste/28194/ During the meeting, we've all been working on a document together, where we've been collecting ideas for two of the major questions of the Inkscape Board to the community: https://pad.chaotikum.org/p/Inkscape_Office_Hours_1 For those who were not able to attend the live meeting, I will keep the pad open for another week, so you also have a chance to add your ideas there. Please mark your own ideas with the name you go by in the community, and also add a short suggestion about how you could help with making them reality! When the week has passed, I'll package the results up for handing them over to the Inkscape Board, so they can have a look at the feasibility, and we can continue from there. There's no established process for this yet, so we'll just have to try and see where we can get. There's no date set for the next Inkscape Office Hours meeting yet. The Inkscape project has grown so much in the last couple years, and we have teams spread all over the internet, working on improving Inkscape and helping the project and its users. Also, we have lots of exciting new things to decide upon together as the Contributors' Team! For this reason, we've thought of trying out something new to allow every contributor to also contribute their ideas for the future of the project as a whole: The "Inkscape Office Hours"! ============================ The first meeting of this kind will take place on Friday, 16th July (today!) at 5 p.m. UTC (in your timezone: https://inkscape.org/cals/ ) If it is well received and productive, we'll make this a regular thing. We will have members from the Inkscape Board there, and also some of the other people who are most involved with Inkscape matters on a day-to-day basis. And YOU (hopefully)! ------------------ Don't know whether you 'count' as a contributor? Doubts? Well, that's one of the things we'd like to figure out together! We really need to, it's required for voting rights. There's a Board vote pending, because we haven't yet come up with a good definition. We are planning to update our project charter to include more than only developers, as is currently the case. So please come and join us, even if you're unsure whether you 'qualify'!
