Inkscape Office Hours: Summary

Hi everyone in the Inkscape Contributor Community, thank you very much to those who had joined us for the first 'Inkscape Office Hours' meeting on July 16th! We had a great time getting to know each other and tossing some ideas around. You all can find the meeting log at https://inkscape.org/paste/28194/ During the meeting, we've all been working on a document together, where we've been collecting ideas for two of the major questions of the Inkscape Board to the community: https://pad.chaotikum.org/p/Inkscape_Office_Hours_1 For those who were not able to attend the live meeting, I will keep the pad open for another week, so you also have a chance to add your ideas there. Please mark your own ideas with the name you go by in the community, and also add a short suggestion about how you could help with making them reality! When the week has passed, I'll package the results up for handing them over to the Inkscape Board, so they can have a look at the feasibility, and we can continue from there. There's no established process for this yet, so we'll just have to try and see where we can get. There's no date set for the next Inkscape Office Hours meeting yet. Do you think this should become a monthly event? Or do you think it should be more frequent or less frequent? Thanks again everyone for your support of Inkscape, Maren

Also, we have lots of exciting new things to decide upon together as the Contributors' Team! For this reason, we've thought of trying out something new to allow every contributor to also contribute their ideas for the future of the project as a whole: The "Inkscape Office Hours"! ============================ The first meeting of this kind will take place on Friday, 16th July (today!) at 5 p.m. UTC (in your timezone: https://inkscape.org/cals/ ) If it is well received and productive, we'll make this a regular thing. Any collaboration features built into Inkscape?

Hi all, I'm writing a book, and one chapter compares and contrasts vector drawing programs. This specific section is about several people in several cities getting together via Jitsi or Zoom or GotoMeeting or whatever and working on a diagram together. I'd envision one participant making changes, then another participant, etc. I wouldn't anticipate two doing it simultaneously: That would be a recipe for disaster. So does Inkscape in any way facilitate this kind of collaboration? Funding Inkscape Development

I've been using Inkscape for many years. I also use it extensively in my small business. I'd like to fully fund development of specific features in Inkscape, but didn't see an easy way to contact developers already familiar with the code base on the Inkscape web-site. Do you folks have any suggestions? Unexpected behavior in version Inkscape 1.1 (c68e22c387, 2021-05-23)

Hi all, I'm using Inkscape 1.1 (c68e22c387, 2021-05-23), and running into unexpected behavior with text, as explained below: My drawing has a text item with hard newlines and specific spacing between baselines (1.1). I save it as plain SVG, close the file, then reopen it. The text item's baseline to baseline appears to have reverted to 1.0, but the text now appears to be on one line, and if I insert newlines, everything just gets jumbled together on the same line. If I add material, different lines have different baseline to baseline distances. The bottom line is I have to completely recreate the text item from scratch on every edit, which slows things to say the least. This is probably intermittent, because I have another text item that so far, from minimal investigation, appears not to have this problem. I can also tell you that I seem to remember problems like this (rarely) in earlier versions, but I can't remember any details. * Has anybody else encountered this? * Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong, and how to do it right?
