offtopic: printing a high image
by Khiraly
Hi!
I know it is a bit offtopic, but maybe somebody can help me out there.
I want to print an inkscape tutorial (hence the inkscape mailing list;),
but none of the programs is capable to do it. Here is the original
image:
http://ic3.deviantart.com/fs13/f/2007/113/7/3/a_Quick_Guide_to_Inkscape_b...
I tried firefox, but prints only the first page, so the image is cutted
at the top.
And after that: gimp (with gimp-print plugin), gthumb, inkscape, evince.
None of them was I successful.
Any ideas?

Who is Tavmjong Bah aka Stephen Schrenk of Inkscape tutorial fame?
by unknown@example.com
Is this the same Steve Schrenk of baseball fame?? How did he come upon the nom de plume of Tavmjong Bah?? I've Googled and Wikipedia'd for all I'm worth and can't find anything about this apparently very creative individual.? Amongst other things, he's also crafted some Arev fonts, whatever they are.

New Tutorial - Color Wheel Example
by Aaron Elmquist
I posted a cleaned up solution to the color wheel question asked a couple
months back on my deviant site. Looks like the number of tuts on
pixel2life.com is picking up steam as well. There's a neat little tut there
for creating a rubber stamp effect.
To those that have posted comments on the tribal artwork tut, thanks!

Layers Dialog Mockup.
by ryan lerch
The other day, i decided to lock an object using the "lock" checkbox
in the properties dialog box, and when i wanted to edit this object
again, the only way i could find to unlock it was to edit the XML
using the XML editor.
This got me thinking, how could an easier way be implented? microUgly
and i were throwing around some ideas at http://inkscapeforum.com/ and
we thought, why not be able to change these properties of objects in
the layers dialog box? anyhoo, the moral to my rambilings is that i
did a simple mockup of how this may work: please tell me what you
think...

printing partially opaque objects
by David L
When I try to print objects with alpha values <255,
they print as if alpha was 255. If I export them to
pdf and then convert them to postscript using
pdf2ps, they seem to print with the intended
alpha value. I don't know if this is a printer
driver problem or what. Clearly inkscape is
exporting alpha information that can be used
to print correctly (or else it wouldn't print
correctly after converting to postscript).
However, it's inconvenient to not be able to
print directly from inkscape. Does anybody
know what might be going on or how I can
work around it in inkscape?
Thanks,
David

Re : Layers Dialog Mockup.
by Cedric Sagne
The mockup seems an excellent GUI feature perfectly adapted to what I also
believe to be a problem of usability in Inkscape... wow I wish I could code
I would start this moment.
It is the first idea in a long time where so many people on the list are
clearly on the same wavelength, and the implementation suggestion is simple
and clever... hey! just like Inkscape itself!

forum?
by Dave Niezabitowski
Are there any forums for support or is it only this mailing list.
Mailing lists are sooooo hard to follow and messages are all over the place.
