URW Chancery L font needed

does anyone know if it's possible to get the "URW Chancery L" font loaded in winxp? this font is loaded on my ubuntu 7.04, opensuse 10.1 and 10.2 systems. from what i can tell it's a ghostscript font of some kind. i don't think it's a truetype font. btw, i have ghostscript installed on windows, if that does any good. thank-you, heathenx ps. shame on me for using a non-truetype font. live and learn.

Presentations in Brazil

Looking at now as the presentation of our friends was made: "Ted Gould"[1] and "Bryce Harrington"[2], in LGM I would like to share the presentations[3,4] that I made here in Brazil on Inkscape, different of that he exists I I used Layers. To facilitate the presentation in layers, I made a request[5] and reported one bug[6]. Question on Taking Part of An Image

Hello, I'm trying to draw something for my webcomic and have come across a problem. I have several images of flags and I want to just take a section of them. For example, I would like to be able to draw a shape (a circle) on top of the flag, then remove all of the flag that sticks outside of the shape so I'm left with just a circular section of the flag. scaling fonts

I have a problem with scaling fonts (I am using Inkscape .45 on Ubunty Feisty). 1) Imagine you write some text in fontsize 32. 2) Then you scale the text object without keeping the aspect ration the same. For example you make it smaller 3) Then you select the text object. You will see that the size is smaller, it might be, say 30.2. 4) Then you decide that the text object should be 32. Then you select the text icon on the left and select 32. 5) NOW THE PROBLEM HAPPENS: Inkscape says that the text is 32, but it still keeps the wrong aspect ratio. Of course, you might wonder why this is a problem. What happens is that I need to rescale multiple objects (in step 2, not just text objects) and then afterwards select all text objects and set them to the intended point size. Inkscape seems to keep track of the transformation scale matrix and the aspect ratio. I am sure that has a purpose. But what if I want to say that a text object which has been scaled and transformed multiple time should have a particular font size. That seems impossible right now. Im using SUSE, I have the 0.42 version of Inkscape. When tryinig to use Yast it dosent let me install becoause it looks as if it was allready installed (but not the version I want).

Inkscape runs on Max OS 10.3

Hello everybody, Thanks to the repeated efforts of John Faith, the latest version of Inkscape now seems to run on OS X 10.3 aka. Panther. Many Panther users reported some bugs and were disappointed that the new 0.45 release left them behind. These cruel days are hopefully over! A build is available in Inkscape's development builds repository: http://inkscape.modevia.com/macosx-snap/?C=M;O=D [pick Inkscape-20070504-10.3.dmg] This build is made from a recent SVN snapshot so it has more features (and potentially more bugs also ;) ) than the 0.45 release. The application is also larger than usual (>100Mb) because it is not stripped from debugging symbols. Currently John is still struggling to complete a compile from a fresh start. Once this is sorted out and once this first build gets some testing, we'll provide a more official build (maybe a 0.45.2 if this is ever planned to happen). Text Dialog... apply button disabled

Hi! I'm trying to write some text and the apply button seems to be off. Furthermore I cannot seem to select the particular font I want. The font is "Myriad Pro Semi Bold Condenesed Italic", in the dialog I only see Myriad Pro, with the various variations (that's on my Ubuntu Feisty installation). On my windows installation I don't see that font at all. Another point is that the font is an OTF file. So, what gives? Thanks! Roberto Leibman

Logo "contest"

Hi First, not a contest because I can't offer anything to the winner. Just to be "the winner". Next, I am just announcing this here, at inkscape users list. Mainly because I want a vectorial logo, but also because I am an inkscape user and love it (but I do not know how to draw anything). Ok, what is the "contest"? I am involved in a project of an 'open dictionary' (dicionário aberto in Portuguese) and I would like to have a logo for it. The actual page is available at http://dicionario-aberto.net and is just in Portuguese (and will be that way forever), but I'll create a page with the received logos (if anyone contribute). Native Inkscape on OS X

Hi, I wonder what the current status of a native Inkscape version for OS X (ever since the first announced good news) is (the wiki doesn't really help [me, at least]). To cut it short: * I love Inkscape * OS X is my primary development platform these days (I do have flavours of Windows and GNU/Linux available for testing and special tasks, I'd like to cut that down to testing) * I want my Intuos tablet to work properly with the calligraphy tool (did I mention that I love Inkscape?) * I'd rather pump € worth of a CS3 Illustrator (missed opportunity, as far as I'm concerned ;-) license into a worhtwhile project, if that helps (I don't drink beer anyway [0] :-) [0] Seriously, I encourage everyone thinking about the issue if you can afford it at all -- personally, I'm not exactly getting rich but wealthy enough to start thinking about it. I've gotten more out of free software (or whatever your label is) than I could ever pay back, which is not say that I shouldn't pay back at all, anywhere. Now that I could afford Adobe products, I'd rather invest into freedom (and to me, there are no 'leechers', 'undecided professionals' maybe, which is unconditionally fine :). Setting Fill for a Self-Intersecting Path

Here's the deal. I have a bezzer curve that loops back on itself. Basically I drew the out line of a very curvy pipe. When I set the fill the areas that overlap are transparent. Any simple fixes for something like this? I think I could start pushing nodes around and join/cut them, but then I'd loose the outline for the stroke represent that part of this is in the foreground while the rest is behind it.

Bulleted lists in Inkscape? Hanging indents?

I want to create a bulleted list in an Inkscape document, along the lines of * the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog * lazy dog quick jumped over * the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog If I have to insert the bullet symbols by hand, that's OK (though not ideal) but is there any way to get the hanging indent on the paragraphs? (In case the layout of this post gets messed up, the list items items should just like the standard bulleted lists on an HTML page.) Thanks, Niall

I downloaded Inkscape, dragged it to my Apps. When I try to open Inkscape, X11 opens then nothing happens. It sits there forever. Anybody out there have any ideas?? a.l.

"Scale rounded corners" button doesn't work for clones?

Hi, I think the "Scale rounded corners" button doesn't work for clones. When I open the "tutorial-shapes.svg" (Inkscape: Shape tutorial) and select any rectangle with rounded corners I can turn off scaling of rounded corners by releasing the button "Scale rounded corners" (as explained in the tutorial). But when I create a clone of such a rounded rectangle, scaling of rounded corners is not turned off anymore for this cloned rectangle. Scaling is turned off again only if I unlink the clone. Is this behavior a bug? I would like to create a rectangle with rounded corners, clone it several times and rescale each cloned rectangle in different way but do not rescale rounded corners. White overlap in glyphs

Hi, I found that with some fonts, Inkscape fills parts of letters with white, not black. (With default colour settings.) For example, using the Summersby font: http://packages.debian.org/ttf-summersby I found that the letter X has a white bit where the two lines meet. It goes away if I convert it to paths, but sometimes I'd rather not do that. ----- Most fonts don't show this behaviour, but UnFonts (one of the major free software fonts for the Korean language) do. Could this be a bug? Would it be a bug with Inkscape or the fonts? Cheers, Kyungjoon Lee

Terrry, You can get the effect by separating your multi-point line to individual segments, then applying the pattern to path for each segment. It's not the most ideal solution, but it is a workable. I really like your idea of allowing for a single pattern along each segment. Even better... allow the user to specify the number of patterns per segment. This would definitely be a very useful option for the Pattern along Path effect! - Tony ----- Original Message ---- The new patterns along paths is way cool. But am I right in thinking that it won't do one thing that the old kochify effect did - put one copy of the 'pattern' along each internode of the path? This is way offtopic, but I'm learning Gimp and Inkscape and planned on buying a desktop PC soon and then trying to get some work in graphic design - maybe in a printing company for starters. However, during this learning phase, I've noticed that my 750Mhz / 512MB Ram laptop is doing quite well under Ubuntu. Do any of you think it would be as practical to work on a laptop exclusively?
