Issues with pdf output and rasterized effects.

Howdy Folks, I'm using 0.47 on OS X (10.5.8/Leopard). I've run into a problems trying to export PDFs. Here is a test file I'm working with: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1901170/Inkscape%20Tests/test.svg If I save as a pdf with the following options: - Convert texts to paths (checked) - Rasterized filter effects (unchecked) - Resolution for rasterization (600 dpi) - Export area is drawing (unchecked) - Export area is page (checked) I produce the following pdf output: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1901170/Inkscape%20Tests/test-not_rasterized.pdf which looks right, but eliminates the blurred elements. Next I try to save using the following options in order to preserve the blurred portion of the figure: If I save as a pdf with the following options: - Convert texts to paths (checked) - Rasterized filter effects (checked) - Resolution for rasterization (600 dpi) - Export area is drawing (unchecked) - Export area is page (checked) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1901170/Inkscape%20Tests/test-not_rasterized.pdf Basically checking "rasterize filtered effects". Some of the blurred elements look fine, but several components of the drawing disappear completely. Can anyone point out what I'm doing wrong here? -- John M Harrold

Color Management on OSX

Inkscape 0.47 r22583 Built Nov 24 2009 OSX 10.5.8 None of the color management options work. The Inkscape Preferences -> Colour Management tab has a drop-down list for Display Profile. This only lists <None> as an option. The mouse-over says that it checks four different directories. I have confirm that all four directories exist and at least one of them contains valid ICC profiles (e.g. they work correctly in Scribus). The Device Profile drop-down on the same tab, has no options, appears to be greyed out and has no mouse-over information. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Any help or suggestions appreciated. I'm trying to create a CMYK compatible PNG file for import into a PDF that is going to a professional printers. Many thanks Chris

Command line

Hi, all. Apparently the command line interface of Inkscape is not working properly. I usually export PNG files from command line because is much more quickly than open every single SVG to export in the GUI interface. After the upgrade to the 0.47 version I cannot export the PNG this way anymore. There is no error message. It simply output nothing. I use Inkscape on a Windows XP Service Pack 3. The command line that I usually use to export the files is: inkscape -f file.svg -e file.png -h 64 -w 64 I review the options in the WEB about the command line and appears to me that nothing was changed from the older version. Drawing spirals

I have only begun to work on inkscape and was using version .46 I did a few drawings making spirals and was really pleased with result, even for a beginner like me it was quite easy. Then I saw there was a new version and thought it mus be better and installed it yesterday. Now I cannot seem to draw spirals any more. When I click on the pencil and then on spiro path and smoothing at 100pct I can only get straight lines whatever I do. Is it a setting I need to change ? I do hope someone can help me or I will need to uninstall the new version and go back to the old one. cheers, Jo

Inkscape 0.47 is released!

(no subject)

I downloaded the latest and greatest and am having a problem. I press shift-ctrl-d and it exits. I also try document properties and I get an immediate exit. I created 3 new windows, different types, and try document properties. All of them go away -- no crash message -- something like an immediate exit. Shows built Nov 21, 2009 (0.47) I'm on Win7-64bit, but its only a 32bit client. Am I alone in this? Some sort of corruption somehow? -l

It wasn't a random random version, the goal was to get 0.47 final in th 9.10 repo but the last major bug took longer than expected to be fixed (and obviously 9.10 got released first). We're going to attempt to see if they'll SRU it. Either way, we will have a ppa in the near future which will offer it for a few ubuntu releases.
