Hi, this is my first posting to this forum and I hope I send my questions to the right email address ;-) 1. Why does Inkscape uses the path tag for circles instead of the existing circle tag? 2. When painting a circle in Inkscape and moving it the move is stored in the transform translate tag. Question on the Inkscape Parser

Hello, This is my first attempt to submit a question via email. I have been using the new Inkscape with SVG that is created from a text file from a different application and the formatting is correct for the XML. The issue I would like addressed is that the parsing of the Text Tag blows up in Inkscape. There are valid visible/printable characters used between the Tags such as & < or diacritical characters and these make the svg file refused by Inkscape. The file will import fine in to Scribus but I don't want to use that as there is another issue with Scribus. I think Inkscape looks much more promising and the only problem is the one mentioned here as far as using the files I need to open in Inkscape. I no it is probably not trivial but I do think that this is a parsing bug. I am attaching a stripped down version of the file I try to open so it can be reviewed and used for testing. Official Inkscape 0.46 OSX package for Tiger (10.4) users

Hello OSX Tiger users, I have posted an Inkscape 0.46 package for Tiger (10.4.x) users: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.46-2.TIGER.UNIVERSAL.d… This package was built complete from a PPC 10.4.11 machine, and since I do not have access to an Intel Mac running 10.4.11 it has not been tested on Intel hardware. If you have an Intel 10.4.11 machine, could you please let me know if the package works for you? Apologies for the initial lack of Inkscape 0.46 package for Tiger users. Producing packages for older OS releases is always more difficult when the Inkscape Mac developers are no longer using that OS for their normal builds, and building Universal packages, even more so! (Our CompilingMacOsX wiki page is currently out of date, but will be shortly updated to reflect the steps used to build these official packages.) Cheers, Michael

Filters Effects

Please help me understand Filer effects! I'm trying to play with the filters but I must be missing something, they have explanations of what they do in the UI but when I try them most of them only turn the shape into a black / white/ transparent rectangle that looks like a bug. The only ones I got to work are blur and color matrix. Are they supposed to work? do they only work for certain type of object? Also, I don't understand something in the UI. In the filters dialog there's this complicated looking effect/connections table which I can't seem to do anything with. Is there an explanation somewhere on how to work with all this?

Wow it works

Hi, I tried changing the pref to Graphite and opened Inkscape for the first time. It starts up with a dark grey screen, with what appears to be a halftone screen, upon typing the Inkscape app opens. When I close Inkscape the grey screen reappears which I have to force quit to return to the OS. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
