Hi everyone, Bryce and Adib have added the pre5 prerelease files (source code and Windows), which are linked from https://inkscape.org/en/download/development-versions/ Below, find a link to the message which Bryce sent to the devel list with info about the pending release of 0.92 and about pre5, and his message about the release meeting (which will start in a couple of minutes). If anyone has some time to spare to come to the board meeting and offer help with release planning that would be cool. Open Colour Systems 2.0 Released ================================ freieFarbe e.V. / freeColour is pleased to announce the release of Open Colour Systems Collection (OCSC) 2.0. Following the release of OCSC 1.0, freieFarbe / freeColour has been been recognised by German authorities as a non-profit organisation. The release of OCSC is the first one after the official recognition. OCSC 2.0 comprises ten additional colour palettes. More importantly, it is now also available in Adobe's Swatch Exchange Format (ASE), as well as a Plain Text Format version with the file extension CLF. All colours have been measured from vendor-supplied colour references with a spectrophotometer. Since freieFarbe e.V. / freeColour is an advocate of the use of the CIE LAB/HLC colour model as a free and reasonable alternative to proprietary colour collections, colour values in the palette files are in CIE LAB. error with gradient mesh - too many heap sessions

Hi Friends, I've just been working on an image testing the gradient mesh. Suddenly out of nowhere (specifically, I was dragging a handle in the mesh, not a node/stop, but handle) a small window popped up with the titlebar "Error in GC" and the message "Too many heap sessions". When I Ok'd that little window, Inkscape closed or crashed. So I can potentially avoid it in the future, what does that mean? And just a general question, while I'm here. It seems the tool is limited to 20 x 20 rows and columns. Or is there some way to get more? Thanks for your help :-)

gradient mesh, multiple nodes, dropper tool

Hi Friends, Just playing with the new gradient mesh tool, to give feedback from a newbie (as opposed to professional or artist). Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, Inkscape 0.92pre3. After selecting multiple mesh nodes, I switch to the Dropper tool, so I can grab a color from an imported raster image. But as soon as I switch tools, only the last mesh node that was selected is still highlighted. So I can't color multiple mesh nodes at once, using Dropper tool. However, if I use just the palette to change the colors, that works as expected, to color multiple nodes at once. Should I make a bug report for this? Thanks, brynn

0.92pre3 feedback - flickering pointer icon during drags

Hi Friends, I've just been playing with 0.92pre3, eventually to try the gradient mesh tool. But first I'm drawing the object. One thing I notice that's never happened before, is that while I'm dragging a node or dragging an object (probably dragging anything, but I haven't tested everything yet) that old Windows "wait" pointer icon, the little hourglass, is flickering the whole time during the drag. Since I've made my pointer icons larger, it probably is bigger than it appears for most Windows users. But even if it were smaller, it still is annoying as heck! Possibly could be related to using the Windows Classic theme?? I've looked through Inkscape Preferences, and I don't see anything obvious that might control this. But of course I often don't understand the meaning of things. Is there any way to turn off this icon (except for disabling it globally)? I made a video, in case you don't already know what it looks like. Note that what I see in Inkscape is slightly different from the video. The video shows the icon is flickering intermittently. But that must be some effect of the recording. In Inkscape, the icon is there constantly, and flickering fast. installing on Windows, 32-bit vs 64-bit

Hi Friends, I'm not sure if this is something I just don't understand, or if it's particular to Inkscape. I recently learned that part of my understanding of 64 vs 32-bit was incorrect. So maybe I have this part wrong too. I'm installing Inkscape on a new 64-bit Windows 7 Pro computer (my old one is also 64-bit, but Win7 Home). Generally, for programs which are made for 64-bit systems, they usually are installed in C:\Program Files. And when I install a 32-bit version of a program, it usually goes in C:\Program Files (x86). First I installed 0.91 for 32-bit, because there's a particular issue with 64-bit that I want to avoid (for the short time until 0.92 is released stable). I used the EXE installer, and I let the installer put it where it thought was best, and it went into Program Files (x86), as I expected. But I also want to play with the gradient mesh tool, so I decided to install 0.92pre3. I think the problem that I want to avoid with the 32-bit version of 0.91 is now fixed. So for 0.92pre3, I chose the EXE installer for 64-bit Inkscape. When I first started the installation, it warned me that I already had Inkscape installed. I thought that was odd, because the 32-bit version was in Program Files (x86) and I thought the 64-bit version was supposed to go in Program Files. So I went past that part, and next there was a more specific warning, naming the folders and showing the filepath. I went on through that part too, and I specifically was watching to see where the installer wanted to put it. I was surprised when it actually did want to put it in Program Files (x86). So do I have some kind of misunderstanding of how 32- and 64-bit programs are installed? Or is it a correct understanding, but Inkscape does it differently for some reason? Survey Published!

Ok! So against all odds I went ahead and published my personal, independent and unofficial Inkscape survey! I tried LimeSurvey, SurveyMonkey and some others but they all had annoying limitations (needed to be a subscriber, accepted only 100 answers, allowed me to write only 10 questions (or so)) and those services were not working out for me. So I went ahead and published 9 questions Inkscape users should answer to fill my own survey. Don't you guys be worried I'll take all the onus to process and show this data later. I MADE SURE TO STATE THAT THE SURVEY IS INDEPENDENT AND UNOFFICIAL. So, again, no worries. The name of the community was not used by me by any means. :-) I published in Twitter, Facebook communities (a few) and Google Plus. Missing arrow heads

Dear all, I'm just starting out with Inkscape but I have this feeling there is something wrong with my installation. I'm running Inkscape 0.91 on Ubuntu 16.10 (i.e., I installed from a package and not source). I'm trying to draw an arrow. After I draw a line with the Bezier tool, I hit Shift+CTRL+F and select the Stroke style tab. From there, I think if I want an arrow head, I would select it from one of the 3 pull-down lists next to the word "Markers". However, I have no choices to choose from. I just have a horizontal line. When I click on them, I have nothing to choose from. A colleague is using the Microsoft Windows version and can confirm that he has arrow heads to choose from using the same steps that I'm using. Am I missing something? A setting perhaps? I've tried looking for instructions online to "activate" the markers but can't seem to find anything...though, in truth, I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Launchpad issue

Hi Friends, I used to be automatically subscribed to any bug report in which I have commented (or started the report myself). But I just made a couple of comments and noticed I wasn't getting an email. Then I looked at the reports again, and it showed that I was not subscribed. I went to my profile in LP and saw an option to "Change email settings". Not sure if that would give me a way to be subscribed to any report where I post a comment, I clicked on it to find out. Even though I'm already logged in (I just posted comments), I'm prompted to log in to something called Ubuntu One. I'm currently a Windows user ,and already logged in. There isn't any option to bypass this Ubuntu One login. So how can I get to the email settings? Thank you very much, brynn
