can import image default to location of the file?

I open an svg from the command line and select File -> Import which defaults to a directory I haven't worked in lately and I have to browse to get an image in the directory the svg is in. Is this unexpected? is it configurable? Thanks, Kent

History of Inkscape development?

Hey inkscape-user mailing list, In light of the Figma acquisition by Adobe, I've been thinking of Inkscape. Since 1.0, the user experience has greatly improved, and this has me wondering: what has changed that enabled this rapid development? I remember Inkscape being stuck on some version for years, hardly progressing for whatever reasons. Now I feel more than ever Inkscape could use development resources. As a FOSS enthusiast I feel knowing its history could help getting into its development, giving context to what exists today and less questioning about decisions made along the way. how do i change "open a different file" dialog size?

when i open ink, to choose file, the size of the window is too wide. how do i change "open a different file" dialog size on inkscape? i would prefer to fixed width size (max width of 500) instead of default (at present it seems to be more than 1024). regards, jindam, vani

when i run $ inkscape 584.svg -i "layer2" -A 121.pdf it shows Unknown option -A i copied above command from inkspace issue tracker (issue #584). i am on Inkscape 1.2.1 (9c6d41e410, 2022-07-14) on electronic mailing list ..... jindam, vani

Yes the export dialog is mis-behaving. BTW my file folders come up very slowly in Ubuntu as well which is why I was afraid of other problems. Directory path problem exporting to png in Ubuntu

When I click on the directory and choose a directory, add the file name and save, it exports to a directory /run/user/1000/doc/<8 character hexidecimal> This then shows in the export file field with the entered file name at the end. This morning a file saved correctly, later this problem occered and the files show in the correct directory but look like ".xdp_<file name>.ZDP701. After my last attempts to correct the directory in the file field of the export window, the files dont even show in the directory or in the Ubuntu "Recent" directory, but exist in the /run... directory. Is this an Inkscape problem, or do I have a rootkit, or both, or something else??

Can't change the size of a flowed text

Late of create a flowed text. Appear this object: https://0x0.st/oSYC.png When i go to back to text tool, appear this blue box: https://0x0.st/oSYF.png I can modify this blue box to modify the allowed size of the text box. Now the problem is the following: How can I modify this size of the blue box manually in pixels? That is, modifying the XYWH values in numbers of pixels.
