Buenas Noches Haciendo un resumen de inkscape en español: Hay que mandar un mail preguntando quienes quisieran participar, y en caso de ser muchos, se arma una lista oficial de inkscape en castellano y/o español. ¡Aquí se cumple, el primer requisito!. Por el "no": no hacer nada. Por el "si": Enviar mail a: delafe@...155... Poner en Asunto: "si Oficial" Segunda opción: Y en el caso de ser pocos, se puede armar una lista no oficial de inkscape en castellano y/o español igual. De mi parte, no se nada de "inkscape", pero cuando nací (hace 55 años) tampoco sabia escribir. Por el "no": no hacer nada. Por el "si": Enviar mail a: nperiz@...155... Poner en Asunto: "si, y que Dios nos ayude" Tengamos en cuenta que tenemos traductor oficial ya nombrado "Guillermo Movia". El cual no dijo que si pero, ya esta trabajando. Sept 7, 2005 UTC - Release 0.17 of the Open Clip Art Library (http://www.openclipart.org) is now available on-line for download as an individual package consisting of over 5000 images submitted by over 500 international artists. The size of this release successfully exceeds the months "OCAL 5K Pledge" of 5000 images thanks to the contributions by new and old contributors. A quick overview of this release: * Library consists of over 5000 images! * New Clip Art Browser by Greg Steffensen * Document Management System (DMS) now linked into website for testing * New clipart_package CVS module for building packages * Added RPM packages of the release Due to the success of the "OCAL 5K Pledge," the next goal is for 10K images (10,000 clip art images) by the end of 2005. It's this kind of deficiency, which as I understand is a deficiency in the svg format, that leads other graphics apps to have their own native format (.psp for Paint Shop Pro, .xcf for The Gimp, etc.) because sometimes you need to carry extra information from one editing session to the next that cannot be conveniently stores in the standard file formats (.bmp in the old days, then .eps or .jpg, nowadays .svg, .png, etc.) I guess it's a deliberate decision on behalf of the Inkscape team to stick scrupulously to the .svg format, this may even be one of the reasons for forking the project in the first place, but it does have consequences. Would it be practical to store colour separation info a comment? Also on the subject of CMYK, I was trying to enter C:10 M:20 Y:30 K:40, but when I enter the Y:30 it changes to C:0 M:11 Y:22 K:10, so I am left guessing what to enter in the K: field to get the desired equivalent colour (probably 40, but I don't really know enough colour theory). This seems a little over-zealous to me. Anti-aliased

Greets, A friend and I were working in Inkscape, and due to the slowness of his computer, the going was, well, slow. To counter this, we searched for a way to turn the anti-aliasing off, but could not find it anywhere. Maybe there should be an option to? Some people might need the accuracy of sharp edges for editing sometimes. Can anyone help? Thanks! Raeth

Snapping when drawing vs. snapping when editing

Hi, I am using the 0.42 release and I love the improvements, especially concerning the text and gradient tools. But now here is my problem: I have set up a grid with spacing of 5 px and snap distance of 2px. Options "Snap bounding box to grid" and "Snap points to grid" are turned on. Now when I draw a rectangle, I get exactly what I want. The origin and the end point of the rectangle snap nicely to the grid. But when I edit the points of the rectangle (with the rectangle tool or the node edit tool), they do not snap to the grid any more. They can be placed anywhere between the grid points. Is this a bug or just something I do not understand about these options? OK, I experimented a little and found out that I get the desired snapping behaviour when I convert the rectangle to a path. But my question remains: Why is there a difference between drawing a rectangle (snapping ok) and editing the points of the rectangle (no snapping until converted to path)? An Inkscape mascot is definately needed

Hi list, The logo is not enough guys, there should be some maskot for inkscape. Linux has one, gimp has one, mozilla has one. The sooner it happens, the better. I created some mice with inkscape recently: http://www.inf.sgsp.edu.pl/pub/MALUNKI/incoming/ and if you like the idea I could create some inkscape related mice or similar animals, like http://www.inf.sgsp.edu.pl/pub/MALUNKI/2004/qcad2.png I've created some mascot-logos already and personaly I believe animal-mascots that can be drawn with hands and fingers (hard with birds or tuxes) are best, because various objects can be nicely put in their hands. I don't want to force myself into official inkscape logo author, so the contest could be a good idea too. Karol

Effect Wishlist

In talking with Aaron a while back he mentioned that sometimes it is hard to come up with ideas for good effects. I was thinking about it, and I'm willing to bet that the user community has some good ideas. This isn't a call for "features" (i.e. layer dialog) more like quick little things that you can already do in Inkscape, but it takes a few steps. You do it often enough that it would be really cool to have a "one click" way to do it. Typically something that takes 5-10 steps is good (too few it isn't worth doing, too many, it may be too complex). Try to include a description of the idea, how you could do it in Inkscape today, and what kind of application you have in mind for it. Including how to do it in Inkscape today helps new users learn techniques, even if they never get made into effects -- so make sure to be clear for them! I've included a few that have been bouncing around in my head below. If anyone wants to implement any of these, ask for help on -devel. We'd be happy to help and get you started on your way. --Ted -- Zealous crop -- Many times when I'm drawing something for a website I draw it, and then I want the document size to be the same as what I drew. This can be done by selecting all the objects, looking at the size of the bounding box, and then adjusting the document properties appropriately. The size of the bounding box is shown in the secondary toolbar when selecting objects. But, it would be really cool to just click "Crop to drawing" and have this happen for me. -- Desaturate -- Sometimes I think that I'd like to see the image I'm working on in black and white (or, more correctly, greyscale). It would be cool if there was one command to change all the fill, stroke, and gradient colors to be totally desaturated. Realistically, it should be every selected object, so that I can make a rose that is in color stand out on a desaturated background. (Note: one tricky part here is that you need to watch for shared objects that are used more than once. If a gradient is used twice, and only one of those shapes is desaturated, a second gradient will need to be created) -- Align by font size -- I haven't decided whether I like this effect or not, but it seems to be popular. Basically people seem to be taking a block of text, and to make it align on the left and right sides, they adjust the size of the font for that line. So the text: I love elephants might have the font sizes of 36, 24, and 10 for each word respectively. (I didn't do the math, I'm just trying to make an example, don't go and see if those are the right sizes). To do this in Inkscape today you'd have to manually adjust the font sizes until it looked good, which can take a while.

full memory pblm

Hi all, I could not manage the way to work with quite big svg files. I'm usually working with R (statistic program), export plot to ps or svg, and then tune my figures with inkscape. The problem is that when svg files are rather big (few Mb), inkscape uses all the RAM and finally all the swap.... my laptop freezes. Is there a way to work with big svg files with inkscape ? As an example, find an svg files (5.6 Mb) at http://serv-umr5023.univ-lyon1.fr/~tlefebure/tmp/test.svg and screenshot of inkscape with the memory tracer open at http://serv-umr5023.univ-lyon1.fr/~tlefebure/tmp/capture1.png . My laptop (512 Mb of RAM, and 700 Mb of swap) freezes when I try to export a png of this file. inkscape.i386.0.42-2.fc4 on fedora core 4 thanks for any help... tristan
