Bug confirmation needed

Hi all, I've added two new categories 'NEEDS CONFIRMATION' and 'NEEDS CONFIRMATION ON SVN HEAD' to our bug tracker, and have begun marking a few bugs that need this. If you have a recent inkscape installation and are on either Win32 or OSX, you can help greatly by seeing if you can recreate these bugs. Please go to this page: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=93438&atid=604306 Search on Category = NEEDS CONFIRMATION ON SVN HEAD, and set the Group to the platform you're on. Also look in Groups 'Any' or 'All Platforms'. Try to recreate the problem, and then please write in the comment section if you could or could not reproduce the problem. Some of these are very, very old bugs, so just having people confirm that the bugs are no longer present would be extremely helpful in enabling us to focus on bugs that really need our attention. OK, now that looks like a problem in Inkscape. I am using Inkscape 0.43 (Mar 9 2006) on Kubuntu 6.0.6 (Dapper). Document properties

Hi there, Im using Inkscape 0.44.1, built Sep 9, 2006 under windows xp. When I try to access the document properties panel -> file -> document properties, the panel does not show up. Is this happening with someone else? Thanks

I just thought that it would be nice to have a procedure which didn't rely of "manual accuracy", if you know what I mean. I've only just noticed that inkscape can be extended using python scripts. I wonder whether inkscape exposes enough of an api to be able to script this particular problem. Time for me to read up on inkscape effects... Jaime

Interesting idea - I've tried it out (with both "Snap nodes to objects", "Snap to object paths" and "Always snap" enabled) but (suprisingly) I still find it very difficult to pin new nodes exactly on the intersection point...

Yeah, I've just spent some time trying to work out exactly what "cut path" does. It's easy to understand when both parties are shapes with area, but when either (or both) are just splines, the results are a little confusing. It certainly doesn't seem to do what I'm after (which is to chop each of my two splines into two pieces)... :-(

Hi. Could anyone tell if there's a way to place a new node at the intersection of two straight lines (without converting each line into a shape by adding more nodes, then doing something like path merge/union/intersection on those two shapes etc). Also, would the same procedure work for two beziers splines? Thanks, Jaime

Just out of interest (as your post kind of makes me think that it's theoretically "hard" to do), how does inkscape calculate intersection points when I ask it to do path intersection of solid shapes made from bezier curves? install/un-install and 'libXinerama.1.dylib' problem

Hi all, I hope this is the right place to post this, apologies if not. Happy New Year anyway. I had Inkscape (IS) installed a long while ago and it worked ok for a while. I had some novice but useful results. i am using an G4 iBook 933 OSX 10.4.8 After a longer while it became impossible to open either an old or new file in IS. I uninstalled IS but was unsuccessful in my attempts at re-installing for similar reasons as I have just encountered today. Today I have tried to install IS again, all seemed to go ok, but when I started Inkscape up, it got the Apple X11 programme going and then the IS logo appeared in the dock but nothing else whatsoever. I trashed the IS app and now it won't let me delete it from the Trash, even though nothing is open, and shows a trash error msg as follows: 'The operation cannot be completed because the item "libXinerama.1.dylib" is in use.' Does anyone know what may be going on? What solution might there be? Many thanks regards Gareth
