Hey folks, I am trying to apply a fill (of a grey color). But the problem is, I used the bezier tool to create the shape (and then I grouped everything). So, when I go and apply a color to the 'inside' of the arch piece at the top ... ...see www.cpcconstruction.net/1/index.html (the shape I'm refering to is the only one w/a criss cross looking grey fill). I'd like to fill only the 'inside' portion of that shape. Its all wrong. Is there a way to turn a shape I created using the bezier tool into a solid item so I can fill it normally? Or, is there a way to apply the bezier tool to say a square shape to make it look the way I want it to look? Thanks a million. Patrick

Doesn't seem to be there in the home directory. Is it stored as a matter of routine, or only when Inkscape knows it's going down? What is the naming convention? If it's an svg file it would sure be useful for it to be stored as .svg. That was my first global search to try and find it - recent files ending .svg. At least in GNU/Linux is is stored in ~/ _without_ .svg extension IIRC. Hi folks, this is my first post to the list after spending a few hours working with inkscape- its great. My question is: I created a .png file (which serves as a logo) for a website I'm designing. The problem is, the background appears grey in IE, but white (which is what I want) in Mozilla. www.pdrsolution.com/test/index.html I pretty sure that the background I chose is white in the application itself. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this? Thanks- Patrick

Ciao, This is may be a transparent background. try to put a white (or whatever colour) rectangle in the back. If your problem stays, pls. also provide the .svg to investigate. Vectorize option

Hi, I have seen that in Flash MX by Macromedia, there's a nice option, they take a bitmap photo and they "vectorize" transforming it in a group of vectorial spots. I wanted to know if there is a similar option in Inkscape :) PS: The problem with the font cache was resolved by formatting the iBook and reinstalling X11. :| Tommaso

inkscape surface-theme

Hi, I have Inkscape-0.42-1.win32. Its surface is made very well and I like it like this. Yesterday I downloaded a new "Win32 build" version. It has a different surface - more crude, with heavy black lines and a dull grey color - but intresting functions. See: http://www.hagoschaos.de/test/ink.html I would like to keep the old optic with the new functions. Is there a way to adapt the look of the new inkscape to my wishes? (I found ...\Inkscape\share\themes\Default\gtk-2.0\gtkrc and was able to change the size of the large-toolbar, but I couldn't change colors or anything else) Regards, Hago

Learning Inkscape

Hello, My question has to do with learning ways to help Inkscape to run more smoothly on my computer. Is there a way to manually allocate more of my system resources to Inkscape? Not sure if I asked that in correct terms, but in my Adobes I am able to assign memory usage and scratch disks. I am enjoying Inkscape tremendously and REALLY would like to use it more in my work (I am an illustrator). But it runs very slow and take a while to refresh the display when any changes are made or a new work window is opened. My main work system is: Win2k , dual PIII processors, 1GB system RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. Not the newest or fastest of machines (It's home-built), but a very stable multitasker, and very seldom do I have such slowdowns when working with the Adobes, I generally have projects open in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign all at once, and move artwork back and forth between them all day. So, I think the problem I'm having with Inkscape may have more to do with my settings. I've looked for more information on this subject, but perhaps have not known what to look for. Sometimes terminology is the biggest problem (in that I don't know any :o) I'm always happy to work things through by myself, and am not afraid to tackle complex tasks if someone could point the way for me, or suggest some settings to adjust. I also have Inkscape installed in Ubuntu on another throw-together system, it seems to work a little smoother there, but still pretty slow. Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated. The Scribus Team is pleased to announce the release of Scribus 1.3.1 - Unité - Open Source Page Layout. The 1.3.1 release is the second development version towards a new stable 1.4. Building on the 1.3.0 version released in July, 1.3.1 brings new features never before available in any open source application. * Scribus now natively supports spot color printing for true DeviceN color space support, natively rendering spot colors, with no maximum limit to the number of spot colors. Scribus uses enhanced spot and separation previews for previewing all separations when a recent version of Ghostscript is available. The new DeviceN color support can also convert spot colors into composite CMYK in both print and PDF export. DeviceN support works with both EPS and PDF export. * This release also adds support for displaying colors and making color choices with an intelligent color wheel for color schemes and for individuals with color viewing impairments. This is a first, we believe, for any page layout application. * Scribus text frames now support in-line graphics, both images along with scaled vector drawings. * Additional code, patches and fixes for Win32 and Mac OSX compatibility. Substantial progress has been made for both platforms and a 1.3.1 release of Scribus for OSX will be available soon. A Win32 native release is hoped to be available for one of the next 1.3.x releases. * Scribus now has a Calendar Creation Wizard python plug-in with support for several languages. * New experimental, optional build time support for using the Cairo graphics library as a rendering engine. Currently, there are some minor performance issues, however, most notably gradient display is improved. * Many improvements in page and document layout. Scribus now supports variable page sizes and orientations within a single document, as well as when printing or exporting PDF.
