I put up a bug report about editing text when we had the bug party, then added extra information when I saw a comment yesterday. Now the whole report seems to have vanished. What gives? -- Bungee

Thanks Kuswanto that sounds pretty simple, I might even be able to DO that! another question, how do I get my messages here to read normally. i.e. without all the computer-ese everywhere?

Sorry, I'm really dazed !! Hi people, thanks to your helps I tried again the steps Phil noticed me. I saw that after the assigning of a new Pattern to fill the shape, Inkscape shows three powerfull handsets to manage the picture. There is an handset to move the picture into the shape, one to rotate it and one to scale it. Powerfull, really powerfull, better than in many other editors (es. the heavy macromedia freehand) R. Inkscape has created a pattern using the picture, so you can just delete it. I don't understand why you can't delete the picture that you inserted in step 1. >>4. Drop the picture into the document, move it over the object and resize it so it lines up how you like it 2. Edit -> Object(s) to Pattern (Alt-I) 3. Delete the picture 4. Select the object, and assign the new Pattern as the fill. If you move the filled object around, the pattern moves with it. If you select all the nodes and move them, it doesn't. This is quite a cool effect. Loading a SVG file with included SVGs

Hello list, I'm loading SVGs into Inkscape that included small SVG icons with a relative path. (It's a network diagram generated by Grapviz in SVG format using SVG shapefiles for the nodes). When I load them in Inkscape, the icons (shapefiles) aren't loaded. I've looked around, but all help seemed to be geared toward how to actually do something usefull with the program (and that's quite reasonable) but I couldn't find an answer to my problem. So where's the 'Load external referenced SVG files by default' option, or something similar.
