Please prioritize 1.0.x branch for interface translations

Hi all, just a quick note: We've recently created a git branch for the 1.0.x release series (this will become Inkscape 1.0 and potential future dot releases like 1.0.1). For your translations please prioritize this branch (as that's what users will see in Inkscape 1.0). We'll continue to cherry-pick translation updates into master branch ("bleeding edge") for some time, but the branches will diverge eventually, so you'll have to submit translation updates for master branch separately again in the near future. To summarize, the currently active branches (direct links to po folder included) are: * *master* - https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/tree/master/po /latest and ongoing development, will produce all future versions of Inkscape starting with Inkscape 1.1/ * *1.0.x* - https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/tree/1.0.x/po /stable branch for the future 1.0.x series, starting with Inkscape 1.0/ * *0.92.x* - https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/tree/0.92.x/po /oldstable branch for the 0.92.x series, next will be Inkscape 0.92.5, after that releases might be made if needed/ Cheers Patrick

Inkscape 1.0 About Screen Winner

The Winner of the About Screen Contest for Inkscape 1.0 is ... 'Island of Creativity' ----------------------- (https://inkscape.org/~bayubayu/%E2%98%85island-of-creativity) Congratulations to Bayu Rizaldhan Rayes, the artist of this fantastic image! 25 Inkscape contributors selected the image from the five finalist images. It will grace the 'About Inkscape' dialog of our very special release Inkscape 1.0. The winner was determined via Instant Runoff Vote in the openSTV software. The voting result and the ballot file are available at https://gitlab.com/snippets/1922968 . We are very happy about the variety and number of submissions to the contest, and the involvement of so many community members and contributors in the voting process. We are already working on finding good places for making use of other fantastic entries from the contest gallery :) Tutorials, the Inkscape website, the development version and more all need new, cool pictures to show off Inkscape's abilities and its awesome community. The Contributor vote closes now. Thank you, Gellért, and the 23 other contributors who cast their vote! Everyone who voted should have received a reply with an acknowledgment of the vote via mailing list. If you didn't get one, please verify with me that your vote is counted. The winner will be announced publicly and be made visible in the gallery on Tuesday. Inkscape 1.0-beta2 release

Hi everyone! We are quickly approaching the long-awaited 1.0 release of Inkscape, and to allow easier testing of the progress we've made with it, we just released a 1.0-beta2 version! You can get the release at https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.0beta2/ in the form of source tarball to compile, AppImage for Linux, and .dmg for macOS (windows soon). The most visible changes should be : - MacOS Catalina users should be able to manipulate files - More responsive interface (faster rendering) - Improved text rendering All testers are encouraged to test this version and report bugs at inkscape.org/report The release date for 1.0 is not set in stone yet, but if we don't get major bug reports I expect a release around the end of December. == Translators == Thanks for your work! Strings have been frozen for a while, and it's not too late to submit translations until release date. == Developers == We have now branched the code repo. The new branch 1.0.x now only welcomes bugfixes, translations and easy-to-review changes; while features, performance, code improvements, or anything that was left waiting in prevision of 1.1 are free to go to the master branch. == All contributors == All Inkscape contributors (be it with development, translation, Vectors (outreach), documentation, UX research, etc) are encouraged to vote in the About Screen contest before Dec 15th!
