Repository POT file
by Martin Owens
Dear Translators,
I'm at the Inkscape Hackfest here in Paris and we were wondering if it
would be good or bad to remove the pot file and po files from the
master branch and separate them out into their own repository.
The pot file gets modified on each make, and it's causing some minor
issues for developers. So the preference for developers is for removal.
But this depends very heavily on HOW translations for inkscape are
done. If they are done 'in-place' or if translators expect to use a
service like launchpad translations which keeps track of everything.
Please let us know what you would like us to do with pot and po files
regarding development.
Best Regards, Martin Owens

That's what I suspected. I also suspect it wasn't always the case that
the pot is regenerated upon each build/commit - must be a recent
change. I just wanted to note that another solution would be to go
back to manual regeneration of the .pot file as a separate make
target.

[Menu » Teams & Gallery][PT-BR] Not translated, not sure if it is a bug.
by Mariana Dias
Hi all,
Hope you’re doing well.
I am slowly sorting out a few things I came across with on the website, one of those being some items of the main Menu that were not translated. I’ve checked the po file to make sure there wasn’t any missing lines, but that doesn’t seem to be the case (have a look on the side menu half is translated and half isn’t).
I don’t think the problem I am facing is a bug, but just a matter of getting my head around all the different content management tools we have. For this reason, I haven’t published the changes yet, meaning you will see the site as it still is.
Community » Gallery & Teams
On Page » Page settings, I chose the pt-br tab and added their respective translations for the menu. However, when I did that, what I got back from the links were blank pages.
Following the wiki manual for CMS, the next step would be to create a translation for the respective pages (Language » Add Language, Copy plugins, and so on). The dilema is that the page already exists and even when I try to copy the plugins from the page in English to the Pt-Br page, it doesn’t really work.
Hence, I would be very grateful if you guys could help me to figure out what I am doing wrong =).
On another note: Maren, the sponsors page is fixed for pt-br.
Have you all a lovely day,
Kind regards,
Mariana
Ps.: I had added a few screenshots here, but the message got too big, so just removed them =).

Website: Sponsors Page updated
by Maren Hachmann
Hi Website Translators,
our Sponsors page has received a little update:
- Gitlab added
- entry for launchpad modified
- Silver Sponsor moved into separate section
- new Bronze Sponsor added
Some hints:
As this page has a lot of extra styling, be sure to check / modify the
html source (esp. for the float-clearing paragraphs). Logo images are
left-aligned. Links open in new windows, wherever possible.
Thank you!
Kind Regards,
Maren

Website: Updates!!!
by Maren Hachmann
Hi translators,
with the move of the Inkscape code base to gitlab, the hackfest, and the
Beginners' Guide effort, many website pages are currently in the process
of being adjusted, new pages were/are being added and news articles
were/are being written.
The pages that only required link changes without word changes have been
fixed in all existing translations already.
However, these pages still need your translation powers:
https://inkscape.org/en/contribute/contributors/ :
text and first link changed
https://inkscape.org/en/~Moini/%E2%98%85website-update-contributor-stats
https://inkscape.org/en/news/2017/06/10/inkscape-moves-gitlab/
new news article
The page https://inkscape.org/en/develop/inkscape-bzr/ has been renamed
to /develop/inkscape-git, and it's contents has changed heavily.
There are a couple of 'intersections' between both pages, but perhaps it
will be easier if you copy the plugin from English, and copy-paste parts
of your existing translation in (via text editor or other plain text
copying process).
The page https://inkscape.org/en/develop/getting-started/ has received a
heavy update, with a lot of it having changed.
https://inkscape.org/en/~Moini/%E2%98%85website-update-getting-started
(the diff screenshot is a tiny bit outdated, I just updated the page a
little. Changed the info about email address in 'Fetching the source
code', removed the 'username' reference which Roberto also noticed as
being wrong, removed the outdated inkup hint (will be added back soon,
though), and updated the Mac command for retrieving the code.
Future changes, hold back on translating:
A new page http://www.inkscape.org/en/support-us/hackfest-2017/ has been
added for this year's hackfest.

Manual news:

Happy translating - it's a lot this time, but I hope we can get this done :)
Kind Regards,
