Website News: 1.3beta0 released! / String freeze in a few days
by Maren Hachmann
Hi Translators,
we've just released the beta for Inkscape 1.3, and also published a news
article for it:
http://www.inkscape.org/news/2023/05/30/inkscape-reveals-tools-organizing...
If you are a website translator and have a little bit of time, please
help by translating the article to your language!
--------------------------------
About translating for Inkscape 1.3:
The bulk of the changes is now in, but string freeze will officially
only start in a few days (expected for next Monday). So if you'd like to
start on translations, you can, but expect some smaller changes to still
happen, that may invalidate (fuzzy-fy) some of your translations.
Note that now two branches exist again, 'master' and '1.3.x'. Remember
to ask for your translations to be included in both, and to check
whether that has actually happened.
I'll update links on the Wiki / translation statistics after the
official string freeze.
Thanks everyone!

by Maren Hachmann
Inkscape 1.3 beta0
===================
Inkscape 1.3 beta0 is now available for testing for all three supported
operating systems (Linux, macOS, Windows)!
Being a pre-release, this version is not intended for production use,
but to help us smooth out any issues that should not show up in the
actual release this summer.
You can download it from:
https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.3beta0/
When testing, please try out the major upcoming features, such as:
* Shape builder
* On-Canvas Pattern Editing
* Pattern Editor
* Page margin & bleed
* Document Resources Dialog
* Return of Search, opacity & blend modes in Layers & Objects dialog
and the (now optional) persistent snap bar
* Font Collections
* Syntax highlighting in XML Editor
* LPE dialog user interface redesign
* Improved performance thanks to fully asynchronous, multithreaded
rendering
* Better PDF import

Website: New news article / General status info
by Maren Hachmann
Hi all,
there's a new news article available for translation on the inkscape.org
website:
https://inkscape.org/news/2023/05/23/meet-inkscapes-new-about-screen-artist/
It has lots and lots of html formatting / CSS styling (looks awesome,
but makes translating harder), so please be careful and switch to source
mode, if you need to!
------------------
On another note, I've decided that I'm done with reviewing strings for
1.3, and opened a few merge requests to various Inkscape repositories.
They are not merged yet, and they touch many strings. I'll let you know
when it's all in and strings are stable enough to translate.
------------------
The docs repository has not been updated yet for 1.3. If someone would
like to help by reading through the tutorials to check whether any
changes are required, please do and let us know in an issue for the docs
repo if there is something that needs to be updated for 1.3!

Kind Regards
Maren

Re: [Inkscape-devel] Branching and stuff
by Maren Hachmann
Correction:
We DO expect many of the new strings to change until then, I'm in the
process of reviewing and trying to understand those.
I'm hoping to have good developer support for this task, as has been the
case with those that I've already tackled.
