What's next? Translating 1.2.1
by Lucas Vieites
Hi there,
I was kinda bummed that I couldn't get my Spanish translation finished
100% for the release of 1.2, so I'm setting my sights on 1.2.1, but I have
a couple of questions before I start working on that.
Do we have to wait for a git branch and a fresh po file to be generated?
or, can we just continue our work on the po file we had downloaded from the
1.2.x branch?
Thank you in advance,

Inkscape Context for translation
by Gabriel Van Wyk
Hi All
I am a newbie with the translation, and I am struggling with the context of
the translation. Sometimes I want to see the text in the Inkscape context
to know what the right translation would be, but I don't know how to match
a specific text string with its usage in Inkscape. Any advice?

Please use this translation file for Romanian:
https://www.secarica.ro/traduceri/inkscape_1.2_lang_ro.7z
Practically it is almost the same as for Inkscape 1.1 with very few completions. I noticed that the 1.2 development version has a very old and incomplete translation file for ro, so it seems that the translation from 1.1 did not propagate to 1.2.
The announcement for 1.2 was very short on time and could not do more work in just one week. Generally speaking, is there a schedule for upcoming release dates mentioned somewhere ?
Thank you,
Cristi

Requesting access to translate website
by Lucas Vieites
Hi there,
I'm Lucas Vieites <https://inkscape.org/~lucasvieites/>, long-time
translator of the Inkscape UI and tutorials to Spanish. I have recently
started promoting Inkscape in my (real-life) social networks, which has
prompted many questions about stuff that's already available on the
website, but, unfortunately, not yet translated to Spanish.
I have reached out to the current website translators to see whether
there is a plan to keep on translating the more static pages of the site,
which it seems there isn't, so I'd like to start contributing to this task.
I've been reading https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/WebSite, and I
think I'm more than capable to follow the instructions. I have a background
in open-source software translation (+20 years) and website development
(HTML, Javascript, CSS, etc.)
I will now formally use the "Request Membership" button on
https://inkscape.org/*translator/.
Thank you, and kind regards,

Gauging interest
by Gabriel Van Wyk
Hi All
I am a long-time user of Inkscape - love the product!
I am a native speaker of Afrikaans from South Africa and I am wanting to
find out if there would be any interest in an Afrikaans translation? If
yes, what is the required time frames and estimate of effort involved?
