Inkscape 0.46 Released!

The Inkscape community today is announcing the release of the newest version of its open source vector graphics editor. Inkscape 0.46 is a major update that introduces native PDF support. The implementation of PDF support in Inkscape provides an easy, open source solution to editing PDF documents. Tons of new features and performance improvements are included in this release. Dialogs now have the ability to be docked to the editing window. Gradients can be edited completely on-canvas. The new Paint Bucket Tool fills bounded areas with color. A new 3D Box tool helps create perspective-correct drawings. A new Tweak tool provides an intuitive method for editing paths and painting objects. The new Live Path Effects feature can create "brushes" and various organic effects on paths. Improvements to color management include support for color spaces other than sRGB. Most SVG filters are now implemented, and a new powerful UI is provided for editing filter stacks. == Downloading Inkscape 0.46 == Inkscape 0.46 is already included by default in Ubuntu Hardy so just install it normally. Update of TRANSLATORS file

Hi, I was wondering if the TRANSLATORS file is automatically update from data in the .po files. My e-mail address has changed (and is reflected in es.po), but in TRANSLATORS it's still the old one. So, if it's doneby hand I would like to request that my entry: Lucas Vieites Fariña<lucas@...2...>, 2003-2008. be changed to: Lucas Vieites Fariña <lucas@...162...>, 2003-2008. translation of about box

hi, I am creating translations of the inkscape about box. I need to know how does to write "Draw Freely" in your language. Please, send me the translation and the language code. Also, translate (in the .po file) the string "about.svg" to "about.CODE.svg" (where CODE must be replaced by your language code. In my case it is translated to " about.pt_BR.svg" because I speak brazilian portuguese. I would prefer to receive an SVG containing the phrase written in the proper way (if you wish to do that you probably will need to install the Pushkin font that I am sending attached to this email) I also accept strings, but you must understand that I do not necessarily understand your language and I have no way to be sure what is the proper way of writting it. If you choose to send me a string, I will simply copy it to the about box image using the Pushkin font. If this font is not adequate to your specific language/alphabet, then you should better provide an svg, which is my prefered way of receiving it. (don't forget to convert text to curves before sending me the file because I don't necessarily have the fonts needed to render it properly!) best luck, Felipe Sanches (a.k.a. JucaBlues)

Inkscape 0.46

The Inkscape 0.46 release has been tagged and a tarball is in the process of being created. The next step will be packaging and finalizing PR materials. Thank you everyone for your hard work in producing this release. We will be embargoing PR announcements until March 24th, to provide the Windows port with additional time to identify fixes to some critical bugs, so please hold off from publicizing this release for now. When you sort the results, you'll see both of the entries. It's not a bug, it's a feature. I use the "Name <email>" as an unique identifier and add years from all files. There's no way for the machine to tell that "Lucas Vieites <lucas@...2...>" and "Lucas Vieites Fariña <lucas@...162...>" is the same person. Machines are not very clever, sorry. Other bug reports are welcome. Hi, I sent the svg files for the fr translation ('Dessiner librement') to Felipe. Can anyone add the about.fr.svg translation to the fr.po file, or should I open a new bug report and upload it again? Hi all, release is now quite imminent, so I'm just closing the window for translations to be committed for 0.46. No more i18n update will happen on branch. Here some general statistics for you all: ***** Total number of localizable strings: 3466 Average translated: 1950 ( 56 %), fuzzy: 596 ( 17 %), untranslated: 909 ( 26 %) Total number of PO files: 61 Significantly translated PO file count: 26 Average number of strings translated: 3286 ( 94 %) Significantly translated locales: bg br ca de en_GB eo es eu fi fr he hu it km nb pl pt pt_BR ru sk sl sr sr@...180... uk vi zh_CN ***** 0.46 will also come with many translated tutorials, localized about screens and translated win32 installer.
