Inkscape 1.4 beta2 =================== Inkscape 1.4 beta2 is now available for testing for all three supported operating systems (Linux, macOS, Windows)! Being a pre-release, this version is not intended for production use, but to help us smooth out any issues that should not show up in the actual release this summer. You can download it from: https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.4beta2/ New Features ------------ When testing, please try out the major upcoming features, such as: * Filter Gallery: it has never been so easy to find the best filter for your needs! This new dialog features previews, categories and search. * Modular grids & improved axonometric grids: set the grid angle by ratio for isometric designs and use modular grids to plan layouts and make icons! * Swatches dialog and palette file handling improved: quick access to dialog layout controls, search for colors, and open different palette file formats! * Unified font browser preview: when activated in the preferences, use it to quickly browse through your font collection. Try it out and give your feedback! * Customizable handles: Power users with CSS knowledge can now customize the styling and basic shape of all the handles! * Fast image clipping with the Shape Builder: raster graphics can now be clipped into multiple sections using the Shape Builder. * There's even more: new templates for folding booklets, a new icon theme, additional options in Ruler and Taper Stroke LPE, preview in Spray tool, many new command line options, updated translations and many bug fixes. If you're a translator, please revise your .po files. * Unified Font Browser updates: The "All fonts" label is now hidden, a new "Font Scaling Factor" slider is added to avoid font clipping. and the settings are now in the Interface > Window category, font filtering works better. * Build fixes: The extensions and lib2geom submodules now point to newer commits to fix build errors, building with Poppler newer than 24.05.0 now works, and the libsoup dependency is removed. * Dash icon theme: A new icon theme is included in this beta release. * PDF export fixes: PDF exports now only contains items visible on the page, and anchor (link) tags now have more accurate click areas. * Help menu update: The Help menu is updated to categorize the links and tutorials better. * New About Screen integrated: The contest winning image by Inkonic is now part of the release. * Other features and bugfixes: A number of UI alignment issues are fixed, some crashes have been fixed, the Export dialog UI has been adjusted for clarity, various page-related bugs have been fixed, the Spray tool is now faster, and several translations have been updated. String freeze for 1.4

Hi everyone! The last big changes to strings for Inkscape 1.4 have just been merged (May 5 and today - I've done a big cleanup of hard-to-understand, unnecessary or broken strings, and we've worked on the Help menu). From now on, you can expect strings for 1.4.x to be mostly stable, and only small changes to be made, if any, before the release. There is one bug here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/10324, which, if fixed, would potentially invalidate a huge number of tooltip / action strings. I made a note there to better postpone that fix to Inkscape 1.4.1. So, those of you who have already started translating, please update your po files - and everyone else, you can now grab the po files for 1.4.x and start the work! Hello I'm interested in translating the tutorials into Indonesian language

Hello my name is Muhammad Saputra. I'm very interested to contribute in Indonesian translation of the tutorials. I'm not sure what should I do first but I already have done some work on it (I could not contain myself to get started, sorry) like creating the fork and editing the id.po file in the basic tutorial. Is there anything I should know or do first before continuing the translation?

Aaah! Thanks, Duarte. Yes, I only searched for 'pt' and 'Portuguese' in the MR list, that's why I didn't find it. I've looked into this a bit more, and it seems that the outdatedness is due to the actual Inkscape pipelines on Gitlab having been canceled a lot around that date, so there were no up-to-date translation artifacts available for the documentation statistics to be created from. I've triggered a pipeline re-run, and that worked insofar as it generated the correct statistics now - however, it wasn't able to push its results into the place where the inkscape.org webserver is looking for it. This is currently being looked into by René. I'll let you know when the website has the updated statistics available! Can't create merge request due to GitLab error message

Hi all, I'm experiencing an issue when creating a merge request on the 1.4.x branch. I see this message "You can only create or edit files when you are on a branch" and the merge request is not created. I am following the steps in https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php?title=Interface_translation#7._Mak… Is anyone else having this issue?
