where is the «msgid "New Document"» in master ?

When starting Inkscape with the welcome screen, on the bottom of 'Time to Draw' tab there is a big 'New Document' button. In the inkscape.pot file from 1.1.1 this string looks like this: ... #: ../share/ui/inkscape-start.glade:2164 msgid "Show this every time" msgstr "" #: ../share/ui/inkscape-start.glade:2180 msgid "New Document" msgstr "" #: ../share/ui/inkscape-start.glade:2211 msgid "Time to Draw" msgstr "" ... However, in the inkscape.pot file from master [1] this string no longer exists. If I use this template to update my existing translation from 1.1.1. and use this updated translation with the latest build of the 'master' branch, then the button fallback in English; instead, if I use the translation from 1.1.1 "as is" with that same 'master' branch (i.e. file not updated), then the button shows translated. What is wrong here ? The latest 'master' location is not this one ? I even pulled a merge request for master based on this location/template, but if I looked in the wrong place, then I have to review my merge request. a few already translated strings does not show translated

Create a shape – say, a rectangle – then select the shape. By pressing Ctrl or Shift or Alt, for each a different explanatory string is displayed on program status bar, but all those strings are English only. I checked with German, French and Italian, no difference. I'm on WIndows 10, the Inkscape About says 'Inkscape 1.1.1 (3bf5ae0d25, 2021-09-20)'. ?? Cristi -- Cristian Secară https://www.secarica.ro

Help us staff a booth at the largest German Online Linux event (English/German)!

Hi everyone, the Inkscape project is planning to host a virtual booth/stand again at the Chemnitzer Linuxtage (CLT), on March 12 and 13 (Sat/Sun) 2022! Usually the largest Linux and Open Source event in Germany, CLT are going to be an online-only event in 2022 again. The CLT (Chemnitzer Linuxtage) are an all-day event and we could use your help answering user questions about how to work with the program, how to contribute to it and about what is going on in the Inkscape community, by being available for questions and chatting at our virtual booth. The other thing we plan to do again is a series of short, 10 to 50 min topic-focused sessions – show other users how you use Inkscape, how to use your Inkscape extension, how people can help the Inkscape project or which cool things you made with Inkscape (and they can, too!). A live drawing session, a demonstration, a tour through your maker lab - anything that has to do with Inkscape is possible! So, no matter if you're 'just a user', a developer, a forum member, a regular user support provider in our chat channels, an Inkscape translator or other contributor – if you have some time available to spend helping the Inkscape project on that weekend in March, we would very much appreciate your help! Hello everyone, I'm Ted from China. I want to be a Simplified Chinese translator for Inkscape. I use Inkscape mostly for the vector picture processing, and I like the vector drawing created by Inkscape ( though I've never created a good one myself :) I want to do some promotional work for Inkscape, and I decided to start from the simplified Chinese translation of the website. Inkscape Office Hours: Summary

Hi everyone in the Inkscape Contributor Community, thank you very much to those who had joined us for the first 'Inkscape Office Hours' meeting on July 16th! We had a great time getting to know each other and tossing some ideas around. You all can find the meeting log at https://inkscape.org/paste/28194/ During the meeting, we've all been working on a document together, where we've been collecting ideas for two of the major questions of the Inkscape Board to the community: https://pad.chaotikum.org/p/Inkscape_Office_Hours_1 For those who were not able to attend the live meeting, I will keep the pad open for another week, so you also have a chance to add your ideas there. Please mark your own ideas with the name you go by in the community, and also add a short suggestion about how you could help with making them reality! When the week has passed, I'll package the results up for handing them over to the Inkscape Board, so they can have a look at the feasibility, and we can continue from there. There's no established process for this yet, so we'll just have to try and see where we can get. There's no date set for the next Inkscape Office Hours meeting yet. Do you think this should become a monthly event? Or do you think it should be more frequent or less frequent? Thanks again everyone for your support of Inkscape, Maren
