Hi translators, I've just updated (that is, mostly rewritten) the FAQ item about how to preserve colors for future use (Marc had fixed a directory for Ubuntu, but we already have a better explanation for that in another part of the FAQ, and some important info was missing anyway). https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/#how-create-custom-palettes-and-how-save-… Can you help port that update to your language? Website: Updates to 'Around the Internet' page

Hi there, Brynn has checked the 'Inkscape Around the Internet' page for dead links, and found a couple of things that needed an update: 1. Multiple-Artist Collections > Wikimedia Commons - Category:Created with Inkscape: Link and text changed 2. Multiple-Artist Collections > Museum of Sodipodi and Inkscape About Screens is now a link to About screens on the Inkscape website. 3. A dead link (search for 'nojhan') has been removed. 4. The linke about nautical flags has been updated. (the page requires updates in French, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese. @Finlay: German is ready. It has no other translations.) I hope I'm going to be able to start on paving the way for easier translation of the Inkscape program, and everything that relies on po files, during the Hackfest :) @Yaron: I didn't forget, just didn't have the time to look into Xanata yet. Hi again, website translators! Today, I'm asking for your help with translation of the following changed pages: 1. New FAQ item added: How to reset user preferences (Item 19 in the How-To questions section: https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/#how-reset-user-preferences ) 2. The Report Bugs page has been completely rewritten: https://inkscape.org/en/contribute/report-bugs/ #1 is a quick thing, #2 is quite a large chunk. Thank you everyone! @Finlay Thank you for your help with the news item! I did a quick review yesterday, good work! As I'm probably not able to do any translating until end of September, it would be a big help if you could look at the above ones, too. It's not urgent, though. Website: New News about next Hackfest

Hi there, translators, there will be a Hackfest coming to my city in September - I'm quite a bit excited about it :) Here's a news article about it: https://inkscape.org/en/news/2018/08/01/inkscape-hackfest-germany/ Could you help us by translating to your language? @Finlay Do you think you can find the time for helping me with it? I've got a lot on my mind currently and could use your help, if you aren't on holidays :) Thank you, everyone! I'm hoping to use the Hackfest time for setting up some better translation infrastructure (not for the website cms, that can't be helped, but for the po file based translations) and for preparing release notes, and maybe improving on the Getting started guide... let's see how that works out, it sounds like it could become too much, depending on any unexpected hurdles, and any organizational stuff that comes up :) If there's any of the translators who would like to join us - remotely or locally, or perhaps just some of the time, it would be good to have testers for the new system, perhaps, and to get some of the more neglected translations up to a higher percentage. I see Victor has already started to help with that, and there has been some movement with Italian, too, which is very good :) Kind Regards, Maren

pt_BR.po file translated

The file for Brazilian Portuguese (pt_BR.po) is available through my Mega Upload account. Untranslatable strings in UI

I compiled the latest Inkscape from gitlab and found the sub-strings under both Filters and Extensions menus are still English even though the po files have those strings translated in FR, DE and zh_CN. Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone

Hi Yaron, welcome back! And thanks for exploring Crowdin. What do you see as their advantages? I've taken a look at their website, and all I could find was a proprietary, hosted program, with free plans for open source projects on request :-( They don't appear to be open source, as far as I could find. This looks like it could be a quick-set-up option for interim solutions for small teams outside of the official Inkscape project, but if it's meant to be official, it would need to be open source. Have you also had a look at other translation web interfaces recently? It's hard to stay up-to-date, we need more eyes :) This is what I found out about Weblate: I must admit that the first setup is pretty slow. Filling the database took 20 minutes for 6 languages out of 90, then I had to break off, it was getting too late, will try again another day, and maybe not with the full Inkscape repo, but with inkscape-docs. They added a lot of control options and also translation memory and multiple machine translation options since I last had a look. The translation interface could be more straightforward (the menus - and especially getting back to where I came from - were confusing). The functionality seems to be just fine. It allows discussions, comments, screenshot uploads (you told me about that previously, but I couldn't take a look then). Forking Inkscape on gitlab to work on translations

Hello, I'm the current Italian translator for Inkscape. In the last years I worked alone on the translations, but now I have been contacted by some users that would like to contribute to the translation work. I created a fork on gitlab for Inkscape: https://gitlab.com/FirasH/inkscape and for Inkscape documentation: https://gitlab.com/FirasH/documentation but I don't know how to configure my fork to do the following: 1) keep it up to date with master and 0.92.x except for the translation files I added the original repo as mirrored, but as soon as I push a commit request I get an error due to mismatch between my fork and the original one (mirrored). 2) keep the "names" of the people who contributed to my fork in the commits (that I will review, then create a merge request) Thanks in advance, Firas
