Dear website translators, Bryce and Eduard have made downloads for the 0.91.1pre0 version available for testers, and thus the page https://inkscape.org/en/download/development-versions/ changed (section at the bottom with prereleases for 0.92 was replaced by the current prerelease). If you aren't subscribed to the devel mailing list, you may also find it interesting to know that string freeze for the main program is scheduled for January, 31st, and that the first week of February is meant for us to update translations (dates may change, though!) Untranslated strings in Russian translation of Inkscape (and updating shortcut on Linux)

Hello! When Inkscape language is set in Russian, there is untranslatable strings in Preferences -> Tools -> Shapes> Pencil: "Base simplify" and "on dynamic LPE simplify". P.S. I've added point "Comment[ru]=" for translating the comment in shortcut /usr/share/applications/inkscape.desktop. It's enclosed, please, merge it.

Hi website translators, here come the latest website updates: - I have unpublished a couple of outdated download pages (not English, German, Portuguese), as was planned, so as to not confuse users with outdated download info. You can re-publish them when you're done translating! I'm hoping we'll see them up again soon ;-) In the process, I had to delete two pages (one Russian, one Chinese), because trying to unpublish them gave server errors. I'm sorry for any additional work this will cause for the translators, but there wasn't another way to have up-to-date contents on the website :( - Bryce updated the 'the next release' page: https://inkscape.org/en/develop/next-release/ (he marked a couple more things as class="done", and changed a couple of the list items at the bottom) - https://inkscape.org/en/download/linux/ and https://inkscape.org/en/download/development-versions/ have been updated to include the snap and macports info (Sylvan already found them ;-) ). - I've added a short new news article about snap and macports being available: https://inkscape.org/en/news/2017/01/06/snap-package-linux-macports-port-os… - For all languages, except pt, fr and pt-br, I've updated the images in the front shield (for pt, fr, es + pt-br, I only bumped the version number). Can you do the updates for your respective languages, Duarte, Sylvain and Roberto (and maybe someone could do it for Spanish)? Website: New shield images, more to come

Hi everyone, it seems as if website editing has left the rough waters (for the moment), at least it wasn't taking too long when I tried now. So, there are two new changes: - The Front Shield images have been exchanged, for the four most-voted entries of the About Screen Contest. (Home page: https://inkscape.org/en/) - Martin has edited the Debugging page and published it now (the only changes are in the topmost section, above 'Debugging with GDB'): https://inkscape.org/en/develop/debugging/ Diff: http://www.inkscape.org/en/cms/diff/57770/ I'm expecting the Mac downloads page to be updated soon for the newly available packages via macports, and the Linux download pages for the snap package. I'm still working on collecting contents from their packagers, as I'm not familiar with either format. Spanish, Portuguese and German are ready already :) I've asked Bryce, and it was intentional to not update the pages before the actual release, to make sure that nothing can slip out before the release, like it did last time, when some news portals announced a version that wasn't out yet. Hi everyone, Bryce and Adib have added the pre5 prerelease, the page https://inkscape.org/en/download/development-versions/ has been updated to include it. Below, find Bryce's plan, which he sent to the devel list, for the release, and his message about the release meeting (if anyone has a couple of minutes to come to the board meeting and offer help with release planning tonight, that would be cool, too. I think we still need someone to write that announcement...): ================= Hope everyone is having a great holiday! We're nearly done with 0.92.0 - great work everyone and thanks especially to everyone fixing up bugs and updating translations. Final RC will be cut Wed the 28th. Translation updates are ok to continue landing until then. Bug fixes please check with me and expect some friendly pushback. I'd like the final RC to be identical to what we release, so we don't release with anything untested. So ideally there should be NO changes after the 28th. In practice some minor polish is probably acceptable; but if there are any significant changes we'll need to do further RC's. The 0.92.0 release will happen this weekend or very early next week, assuming we don't need further RC's. We need short turnarounds for packaging so we can get announcements out swiftly. I think we can do it. We can start planning for a 0.92.1 release. There's a healthy amount of energy going into bug fixing right now, and our users will appreciate if we continue. Some fixes will need string changes, so I'll propose we also encourage translation updates. I would like to shoot for early February with this release. Additionally, a focus for 0.92.1 could be on bug management tools. I.e., warning dialogs, workarounds, and bug reporting helper scripts. Josh mentioned that having a button to reset old prefs could work around some mesh problems, and I'm betting there's more we could do like that.
