Hi Inkscape translators The Danish translation of Inkscape has been untouched since 2006.[1] This is to let you know that I/we will probably be working on an update. If there are any comments or anything we should know other than what it says on the wikipage[2] before starting, please let us know. New translatable Keys and mouse reference

Hello, A "Keys and mouse reference" translation system is available in the inkscape-docs project as of revision 385 (see https://code.launchpad.net/inkscape-docs). The new keys.xml has been almost entirely docbookified in order to make its conversion to PO easier, and the resulting HTML file is slightly different than the current one (new external CSS, some style changes, and strict XHTML 1.0). I didn't wanted to change its aspect too drastically, and thus only fine-tuned some styles in order to (hopefully!) improve the overall readability on most browsers (tested with Opera 10.63, IE8 and Firefox 3.6.10 on Windows XP, and Firefox 3.6.10 on Ubuntu 10.04). Don't hesitate to comment. To add a new translation, copy keys.pot (from http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape-docs/trunk/files/head%3A…) to LANG.po, translate (only 939 strings...), and attach the PO file to a bug report, send it to the translators' list, or commit it if you have the appropriate rights. Then update the UI translation file to redirect the link to the new HTML file on the website. BTW, we currently use keysVERSION.html (keys048.html) and thus it would be straightforward to use keysVERSION.LANG.html (keys049.sk.html...). But we could also choose keys-VERSION-LANG.html (keys-049-ja.po). Any preference? or another idea? Regards. -- Nicolas

Hey all, I've seen occasional translation updates here and there throughout the progression of 0.48.1. I don't believe any strings have changed very recently, but wanted to follow up with you all to see if you wanted a little time to look things over before we move forward. Hebrew patch for the Website

Hi developers, In 0.48.x branch-r9714, POTFILE.in is updated and it seems to affect all of existing translations. As for ja.po, It was completed expect for unimplemented features but there are 88 fuzzy and 72 untranslated strings after the commit. If it's necessary changing, please notify us. Inkscape docs moved to Launchpad

Hi all, Inkscape's doc stuff (mainly tutorials po files) has just moved from the old Sourceforge svn to Launchpad. The project url is: https://launchpad.net/inkscape-docs. Feel free to use it if you need to report a bug or request (you can still use the translators list, of course!) The maintainer and driver of this project is the Inkscape Administrators group, and the trunk owner is the Inkscape Developers group. In order to get a local checkout of the files, please use the following command: # bzr checkout lp:inkscape-docs You can create a local branch instead, but I suggest that you use a checkout so that using it is as easy as is was with svn. Please refer to the wiki (http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Working_with_Bazaar) if you need some details about bazaar (just replace lp:inkscape with lp:inkscape-docs). Please remove translation comments before | sign

Can you please change the comments before | in strings like this one: "Grid|_New" to a msgctxt tag for not using "comment|" anymore in Inkscape translation? IMHO this leads to confusions and mistranslations.

Wiki page translation

Hi, as the release date for 0.48 is nearing, I am once again trying to find the most appropriate way to translate the Release Notes from the Wiki. Translating Wiki texts is always a hassle because there are no CAT (computer aided translation) tools that support the format (OmegaT does something with MediaWiki format, but I haven't been able to try it out !!). As I was researching a solution to this problem I found the TranslateWiki project (http://translatewiki.net/). They provide a translation platform for wikis of open source projects. The main advantage of it is that translations become _reusable_. Instead of translating the same texts over and over again from one release to another and having to check every sentence word by word for changes, we will be able to reuse previous translations and the differences will be highlighted. I'd like to hear your thoughts on whether it would be useful for us to use their platform.
