Hello! I can offer my help with Estonian translation. Could §mebody please point me to the right direction. Where to start? Can somebody provide file(s) what need to translate or give a link if translation is going to be done online? Updated POT from svn source

Hello, I'm trying to update Serbian localisation to recent svn in this way: ./autogen.sh ./configure --prefix=/home/urke/opt cd po make update-po But after that I get this error: urke@...214...:~/devel/svn/inkscape/po$ make update-po make inkscape.pot make[1]: Entering directory `/home/urke/devel/svn/inkscape/po' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `../share/filters/filters.svg.h', needed by `inkscape.pot'. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/urke/devel/svn/inkscape/po' make: *** [update-po] Error 2 There is not filters.svg.h file, but if i remove filters/filters.svg.h and patterns/patterns.svg.h (on both files make die) from POTFILES.in, I get updated POT without translatable filters messages. context strings

Dear all I just had a second look over some translations in Dutch. I noticed that when translating a message with a context string (the part before |), the comments do not always give the same instruction. For example, you have: #. TRANSLATORS: only translate "string" in "context|string". #. For more details, see http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/glib/glib-I18N.html#Q-:CAPS #: ../src/dialogs/clonetiler.cpp:2649 msgid "clonetiler|H" #: ../src/ui/dialog/inkscape-preferences.cpp:1116 msgid "filesystem|Path:" #. TRANSLATORS: This is a context string, only put the word "Normal" in your translation #: ../src/filter-enums.cpp:52 msgid "filterBlendMode|Normal" So following the instructions, it seems that in the first case the context string needs to be put in the translated message. In the second example, you seem to have the choice, and in the third example the context string must not be put in the translated message. This seems weird to me. Is there a reason why there is a difference in the instructions or do we need to put the context string everywhere in the translated messages? Kind regards Kris

Hi, Whoever updates POTFILES.in using ./generate_POTFILES.sh please stop doing this. You are not doing everyone a favour. We moved a number of messages that translators should not see while working on 0.47 translation to POTFILES.ignore, because some features will be missing in this release. I'll restore the previous version immediately. Then someone else will have to recreate inkscape.pot using 'make inkscape.pot' in po directory after successful compilation, because Inkscape doesn't compile on this box for me. Alexandre

Solved! I just added fonts containing Armenian glyphs (FreeMono, FreeSans and FreeSerif) to etc/pango/pango.aliases file. Why not to add these fonts to pango.aliases as default? Eduard

I tried what you said: $ msgfmt -cv hy.po It returns no errors only statistics, I placed generated messages.mo file to the Inkscape's locale folder, but get the same result. Maybe something wrong with system configuration (I'm testing Inkscape under WindowsXP)? Find the hy.po file at http://3.file.am/4281, I put words in Armenian, Greek, Hebrew and Georgian in "File" menu string (line:8007). Thanks, Eduard

Hi All, I'm experiencing problem testing Armenian translation. I compiled .po file to .mo (using poedit) but I see squares instead of characters in Inkscape. Then I tried to compile strings for other languages using Unicode coding: Hebrew, Greek, Georgian, and had the same problem with the former, the others look well. Settings inside .po file are OK: "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8\n" "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n" "X-Poedit-Language: Armenian\n" "X-Poedit-Country: ARMENIA\n" "X-Poedit-SourceCharset: utf-8\n" Any suggestions? Hello fellow translators, I was scratching my head how to translate "Dither" (../src/extension/internal/bitmap/spread.cpp:36) so I looked how it's translated in other languages. But for a number of languages I can understand this seems to be a translation of "Other". Can you please check the translation in your language is correct? [Listing 1] shows current translations. For other strings I couldn't translate I filed this bug [1]. Please take a look and comment if this affects you, too or fix them if you can. Are there any other strings you have problems translating? If you report it now we still may fix them before release. In Slovak I only have a few words left to translate from the polyhedron extension which I don't know how to translate yet.
